Palm Pre 2 Launches in Canada on Rogers

The Palm Pre 2 is now available on the Rogers network over in Canada. The launch of the Pre 2 on Rogers was no real surprise as reports recently have been showing the Pre 2 dummy boxes in various stores around Canada.

As for the price, the Pre 2 costs $99.99 CAD but comes with a lengthy 3 year contract. If you are willing to pay $349.99 then you can get a two year contract and for those paying $399.99, you’ll get either a 1 year or a month-to-month contract depending on how much per month you are willing to pay. Kinect 3D Video Conferencing Hack Created

Just a few weeks ago, a guy called Oliver Kreylos managed to get the Microsoft Kinect to track him and put him in a virtual setup where a live video feed could be manipulated to rotate around himself. The effect was amazing to watch. The downside is that anything past what the Kinect could see was just left blank. To get around this, Krelos connected two Kinects together to fill in some gaps that were created when rotating around a person.

Kreylos is back again and this time is using a couple of Kinects to create a virtual 3D video conferencing system. The system is capable of transmitting the data from the two Kinect cameras over a WAN and lets the person receiving the video call manipulate the virtual scenery by rotating around the person talking. Samsung Bada 2.0 OS to get Improved UI

Samsung has confirmed that it plans to support the Bada OS in the future in a big way. Right now, Bada is at version 1.2. Sometime next year the operating system will jump to version 2.0 and with that, a number of new features will be introduced.

Features we can expect in Bada 2.0 include multitasking, a new SDK, NFC (near field communications), revenue model support (operator billing and ads) as well as a number of other new features. [Read more…]

Motorola Tablet with Android 3.0 at CES 2011

Motorola has created a video teaser called the “Tablet Evolution”. The ad is preparing for the unveiling of the Motorola Android 3.0 tablet and explains that it will be revealed at CES 2011.

The video starts by showing various tablets from thousands of years ago and says they are too heavy to carry around and have low res screens. Moving on a few thousand years to now, the iPad is next in line that is described as a giant iPhone… a couple of times. [Read more…]

Sync iTunes via DropBox to Connect Multiple Computers

LifeHacker has created a handy tutorial that allows you to store your iTunes library in the DropBox service. What this does is allow you to sync your iPhone, iPad or iPod to a number of computers without getting any syncing errors or conflicts.

Normally, your iPhone and other iOS devices can only sync to 1 computer running iTunes and when plugging your device in to another machine, files are missing as well as other complications such as when using an iPad, it asks if you want to start from scratch and erase all data from your iPad. Angry Birds HD Update for iPad Arrives

Angry Birds HD for the iPad received an update today that brings a few new things to the game.

The first addition is a new theme called Frontier Badlands. The update brings another 15 levels to the iPad making the game even larger than before. A new Golden egg is included as well as Game Center support and finally the Mighty Eagle is added. [Read more…]

FringOut for iPhone Now Ready

Over the weekend, a new version of Fring for iPhone was added to the app store. The new version brings FringOut to the iPhone allowing users to make calls worldwide for a fraction of the cost of regular international calls.

As well as bringing FringOut to the iPhone, the company is also offering a free $5 credit for iPhone users stuck in airports. There’s a procedure to follow where you send a picture of your ticket to Fring via Twitter and when validated, you get free $5 credit to make calls to those you might be missing. [Read more…]

ViewSonic G Tablet Pulled by Staples

The ViewSonic G Tablet has been pulled from Staples stores due to some manufacturing problems.

The G Tablet isn’t the first tablet to have this problems. The first one was the Toshiba Folio 100 that was pulled from shelves in the UK due to quality control issues. The G Tablet is just the next in line of what we assume will be more over the coming year. [Read more…]

Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 Could get NVIDIA Tegra 2 Chipset

Reports today are indicating that the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 could sport an NVIDIA Tegra 2 chipset when the tablet launches next year.

The rumors come from a semiconductor analyst called Ambrish Srivastava from BMO Capital Markets who suggests that the Galaxy Tab 2 as well as many other similar devices will come with that chipset installed. [Read more…]

Apple Looking for Four New iOS Map Navigation Experts

Apple [AAPL] last week put up four new job descriptions. The job offerings are all identical and request people to join the iOS development team. Each candidate is to be an expert in navigation software.

A few hints in the text, found here, indicate that Apple is working on some kind of navigation product for iOS based devices as each candidate needs deep knowledge of computational geometry or graph theory as well as experience developing navigation software. [Read more…]

Nokia Windows Phone 7 Smartphone Could Land 2011

We are hearing reports today that indicate that Nokia could be looking at creating a Nokia Windows Phone 7 device, perhaps next year.
