Call of Duty: Black Ops will now be playable in 3D

While writing this post I find myself  realising that I’ve already written a fair amount on the whole ‘3D’ thing. But this new avenue to view our TV programs and play our games seems to be all the rage at the moment and rightly so. [Read more…]

Samsung Omnia7 WP7 Smartphone Spotted on Video

The Samsung Omnia7 i8700 has been spotted and captured on video. The Omnia7 looks to have the Samsung Hub as part of Windows Phone 7 that allows you to view the weather, news as well as get other bits of information.

The device looks to be quite slim with a large screen on the front. Not much is known about what runs inside other than the obvious minimum specs that Microsoft attach to a chassis 1 type phone. [Read more…]

T-Mobile G2 Reinstalls Automatically After Root

The T-Mobile G2 has a “feature” built-in that certainly will upset a few people.

When rooting the device, a microchip embedded inside prevents permanent changes from being made and basically restores the G2 back to factory settings with a fresh firmware install. The chip essentially stops you from modifying your phone as you wish. [Read more…]

HP webOS Phones to Launch Next Year

A senior VP at HP (Eric Cador) said over in Barcelona at a recent conference… “you will see us coming early next year with new phones,”.

He didn’t particularly specify what phones would be arriving, as in what OS, but I think it’s safe to think that he is referring to webOS. Note that he also said Phones and not just a Phone meaning that two or more smartphones could be landing early next year. [Read more…]

Google Goggles Arrives on iPhone 4 and 3GS

Google provided an update to the Goolge App yesterday on the iPhone. A new feature added to the Google App includes Google Goggles that allows you to take a picture of an object and have Google scan and recognise what it is.

The Googles service has been on Android devices for several months now and this is the first time you have been able to run it on your iPhone.

Rather than downloading it as a single application, you now just load up the Google App and when doing a search you can now hit a camera icon that is situated next to the voice icon. [Read more…]

iPad Sets Record for Fastest Adoption Rate

When Apple [AAPL] first announced the iPad, a number of people said it would fail. However, the iPad has now launched and sales figures show that it was far away from being a failure in that 3.27 million were sold within the first three months of it going on sale.

It took just 28 days to sell the first million. Comparing this number to the original iPhone that took 74 days to sell 1 million, you get the impression that the adoption rate is high.

One analyst says that the iPad has the fastest adoption rate ever although this is based on some estimations. [Read more…]

Windows Slate Devices to Launch By Christmas

When the HP Slate was first unveiled at the beginning of the year over at CES we expected that it would be available a few months after. But as we now know, Apple announced the iPad shortly after and released it a couple of months after that. We are still waiting for the HP Slate.

HP then purchased Palm which included webOS and the Windows powered Slate kind of dropped of the radar a little. We are still unsure of HP’s plans and if they are to launch a Slate or not, but Steve Ballmer mentioned yesterday that a Slate would arrive by Christmas. [Read more…]

Samsung Galaxy S Sales Hit 5 Million

Samsung has a goal of shifting 10 million Samsung Galaxy S smartphones within the first year of launch. Just a few months after launching the smartphone around the world they have already hit 5 million. Just a month ago an announcement was made that 1 million of them had been shifted in the US.

It’s hard to say if they will reach the 10 million target as demand for the phone will naturally die down as various other Android smartphones get launched. However, they are off to a good start.

With the launch of the Samsung Galaxy Tab around the corner, this will also boost sales of the range of Galaxy Class devices. [Read more…]
