Pre-Release Motorola DROID on eBay

droid-ebayA seller on eBay has a prototype Motorola DROID for sale on eBay. Only 5 were ever made according to the seller and they were created strictly for the engineers. The seller also mentions that everything works perfectly including all radios for bluetooth, wireless, calls etc…

Some noted differences from the final production model are noted in the auction which include a chrome bezel rather than the black standard bezel the production model has. Silver buttons can be found on the prototype DROID rather than Gold and some enhanced LED’s for lighting of the buttons are also in the prototype. [Read more…]

Spotify Arrives for Symbian Phones

symbian-phonesSpotify has now been released for Symbian based smartphones. By launching Spotify for Symbian phones, they have opened up to a huge market. Previously the service was only available for iPhone and Android phones.

Just like other versions of the software on mobile phones, Spotify requires that you are a premium member of their service to use the mobile app. Premium service is charged at £9.99/month and gives you access to a huge catalogue of music that can be listened to either on or off-line. Dell Studio 17 Touch Multi-Touch Laptop

dell_studio_17_touchDell are launching the Dell Studio 10 Touch. The new laptop is powered by a 2.1GHz Pentium Dual-Core Processor on the lowest spec model moving up to Core i7 on the higher end. It runs Windows 7 and has a 17.3 inch screen that is capable of displaying 1,600 x 900 pixels. The screen is also multi-touch allowing you to use the full touch features of the Windows 7 operating system.

For storage, it takes up to a 1 TB laptop hard drive, spinning at 7,200 RPM. Connectivity allows it to connect at 802.11b/g/n speeds over wireless networks. The Studio 17 Touch has USB 2.0 ports, HDMI, VGA, Firewire along with a USB/eSATA port and DisplayPort. For graphics the Touch runs the GMA 4500MHD chip. [Read more…]

Pegatron Smartbook Captured Again

pegatron_smartbookThe Pegatron Smartbook was recently spotted. The Pegatron has a 10 inch screen and runs a fanless ARM processor that as of now is unknown which exact processor it is… perhaps it could be the snapdragon though.

It is expected that the Pegatron Smartbook will launch in a few months time Q1 2010, but also unknown is if it will be branded differently or will still look as the prototype picture above. [Read more…]

Google Chrome OS Ready for Testing Now

Chrome-OS-LoginJust yesterday Google [GOOG] officially unveiled their new operating system called Google Chome OS. Although not available for download just yet, and maybe not for another year, it is actually possible to have play with the OS now by running it on a virtual machine.

A couple of images from the source code have been compiled and are available with one ready on Bit Torrent for download and another over at Gdgt. Just as a precaution, just create a new GMail account if you want to test the OS out just in case (a slim chance) that any of the downloads have been tampered with.

To get the OS working you need to download and install VirtualBox which allows the virtual OS to run. [Read more…]

Microsoft Surface SDK Now Available

microsoft-surfaceMicrosoft [MSFT] have now released the Microsoft Surface Software Development Kit (SDK) for all who want it. The download is 144.2MB in size and can be downloaded right now.

The SDK comes with no price tag and allows anybody with the skill and interest to create applications for Microsoft Surface computers. If you do not have a surface handy (which probably includes 99.9% of the people who read here) then you can use a PC-based simulator to test your applications out. [Read more…]

Google Chrome OS Revealed

Google-Chrome-OSYesterday, Google [GOOG] introduced a new operating system called Google Chrome OS. We have heard a few things about it over the last few months, but now it has been officially displayed. The idea behind Chrome OS is that most users switch on their computer and want to go online to get email, check Facebook, browse websites, search for jobs, go shopping and perhaps play games while chatting to friends and listening to music etc… with other programs not getting as much use, if any at all. Perhaps the web browser is the most important and most used program on a computer in Google’s words.

When a computer boots up if often takes a while from hitting the power button to loading up a web browser. For this reason Google decided to get rid of all the things that slow it down and make the browser the operating system. After hitting the power button you can be online within seconds. [Read more…]

ASUS Eee PC 1201N now Available on Pre-Order

eee-pc-1201n-laptopWe have mentioned the ASUS Eee 1201N a couple of times in the last few months. We now see that it is ready for pre-order.

The Eee 1201N has a 12.1 inch screen running with a resolution of 1366 x 768 pixels. It has an Intel Atom 330 dual core processor along with NVIDIA ION graphics. Priced at just under $500 it comes at a fairly decent price. The netbook is also ASUS’s first ION netbook to be released.

The ASUS 1201N is part of the Seashell line of laptops and looks similar in some ways to various other models from that range such as the best selling Eee 1005HA. [Read more…]
