Hitachi 2TB HDD 7200 RPM Launched

hitachi-7k2000Hitachi have managed to create the worlds only 7200RPM 2TB hard drive. That’s quite an accomplishment. The key here is not only the massive amount of storage speed, but more so the speed that the drive spins. With it spinning 7200 times a minute it allows for faster read and write access than the other similar drives which only reach either 5400 or 5900 RPM. [Read more…]

Touchable Holography

touchable-hologramA Touchable Holographic display was on show over at Siggraph recently. As you will more than be aware, holography cannot really be touched. It’s just floating images that when you reach and grab them your hand slides right through them.

A company have been working on tactile feedback for holography and have created a system which uses 2 wii remotes to detect location of a real object (ie, your hand for example) and then an airborne ultrasound tactile display is used by giving feedback on the users hand. [Read more…]

iPod Nano Carved Cassette Cases

lg-casecSomeone has created some really nice cases for the 4th Gen iPod Nano. It looks like they were custom built and due to the fairly small size of the Nano, the iPod fits in quite well inside.

I guess if you went and got a Dremel you could possibly carve one of these out yourself but I wouldn’t be able to guarantee you’d get it to look as good as the ones pictured here. [Read more…]

Chrome Flip HD’s now Available

Flip-HDI just spotted this morning that Flip are now selling their Flip HD cameras in Chrome now. For an extra £10 you can get the whole back plate chromed out.

volkswagen-beetle-pc-case-modA lot of PC’s look boring and this is why someone has created the Volkswagen Beetle Computer Case. It was custom built from the ground up and it’s creator has managed to squeeze the whole PC inside the body of the car. It is made of transparent plastic in the inside.

Asus 1101HA 11.6″ Netbook

Asus-Eee-1101HAAsus have launched their new netbook. Asus 1101HA is the name of it and is the first seashell netbook to have over an 11″ display. The 11.6″ screen has a WXGA resolution of 1366 x 768 pixels making it HD.

An Atom Z520 processor powers the device and it comes with 1GB of RAM, a GMA 500 integrated graphics chip, a 160GB hard drive and 3 USB 2.0 ports. [Read more…]

Apple SMS Security Fix Complete

Apple-iPhone-SMSApple have now fixed the iPhone’s SMS security flaw. This fix secures the phone from a remote attack that could have been exploited. The patch is available via iTunes update.

If you are unaware what the vulnerability is on the iPhone then read on. Last week a couple of researches found out that by sending an iPhone a string of text messages that it could give them access to your iPhone. The text messages sent included executable code which was embedded in the iPhones memory opening it up for remote access. [Read more…]
