Windows Phone 7 Release Date is October 21 – Latest Rumor

New information reveals that Microsoft [MSFT] could be launching Windows Phone 7 on October 21. Neowin has spoken to people familiar with plans that suggest an event will happen on October 11 in New York City and then several events around the world will shortly follow in the UK, France, Germany, Italy and Spain.

Following those events it appears that Microsoft could give the go ahead to release several Windows Phone 7 devices to the market although it isn’t clear which countries will get the phones at launch.

Over here in the UK, Microsoft is planning for a London based radio station to promote the new operating system. Orange is also expected to be part of the launch. [Read more…]

Scrabble Coming To Kindle

If you own a Kindle and enjoy playing word games like Scrabble then you’re in luck.

Scrabble now makes its way to Kindle after Shuffled Row and Every Word and with the few user reviews its received so far, its all good and has been rated pretty highly. There are a few game modes to try out such as whether playing solo or ‘pass ‘n’ play’ with a mate.

If It’s Not Sony’s, It Could Explode

Its exactly as the title suggests… If it’s not Sony’s, it could explode. This is regarding Sony’s press release about counterfeit playstation controllers.

Sony have stated that a number of controllers, that “identical in appearance to genuine PlayStation 3 wireless controllers,” have begun to sprout around the market. The company have also said that the “quality, reliability, and safety of counterfeit products is uncertain.”

Verizon to Introduce Tiered Data Plans

Verizon CEO Ivan Seidenberg has commented that the company plan to get rid of unlimited data plans with in the next four to six months.

Replacing the plans will be tiered data plans based on consumption of the user. As for pricing, it is unknown if Verizon [VZ] will go higher or lower than the likes of AT&T [T] who also recently got rid of unlimited data plans.

The CEO noted that Verizon values data differently to its competition. This doesn’t really make it clear if Verizon will become more expensive or cheaper than AT&T on a per MB calculation. [Read more…]

Project Milo Cancelled???

“[Milo] is a technology demo that continues to exist, but right now it’s not a game that we’re planning to bring to market.”

That’s what Microsoft’s Aaron Greenberg told Australian TV show Good Game in July concerning and don’t forget that ‘Milo’ was one of the highlights during Microsoft’s press release at E3.

But then Peter Moleneux said to Eurogamer last month concerning the creation of Project Milo, a simulated relationship between a young boy named Milo and the player…

“I wouldn’t be working on it if I didn’t hope that to be true, yes.”

Joby Gorillapod Video for Cameras and Camcorders Announced

Joby has announced the Gorillapod Video. This particular model is designed for small and light video cameras and cameras such as the Flip HD. The tripod works just like other Gorillapods in that it has the bendy/flexible legs. On top is the connection that allows for 360 degree smooth pan and a 135 degree tilt.

The feet on this model are also magnetic allowing it to connect easily up to metals. With the flexible legs, you can also attach it to a branch for example. [Read more…]

The TK-421 is a case built for the iPhone 4 and iPhone 3GS that has a built in QWERTY keyboard. The iPhone sits inside the back of the case and the keyboard can open up by rotating the iPhone off the keyboard… see the animation to see how it works.

Fake GreenPois0n Jailbreak Tool for iOS 4.1 Packed with Malware

With the release of GreenPois0n coming soon, a number of people are waiting to jailbreak iOS 4.1 based iPhones, there is also concern now that a fake Greekpois0n download is doing the rounds. The fake version is packed with malware which when opened, can cause a few problems for the user.

Cybercriminals have definitely been riding the buzz around the supposed jailbreaking tool. It’s presumed to be called “Greenpois0n” and it’s expected to be released any day now. Not surprisingly, we’ve seen a number of fake “Greenpois0n” Trojans.

It’s recommended that you do not use torrent sites to get the GreenPois0n update as you’d be in for a surprise. [Read more…]
