iPhone Alarm Clock Bug – DST Causes Alarms to Fail

When Australia switched clocks an hour a few weeks ago, a bug was spotted with the alarm clock that prevented alarms from sounding until an hour later. The bug is with recurring alarms which set of an hour later than the time set.

With Europe now switching clocks over the weekend, the bug is now here and it is expected that on November 7th the US will also see the bug in alarm clocks unless Apple [AAPL] push out a fix before hand. [Read more…]

Samsung Galaxy Tab Available for Pre-Order at Amazon

The Samsung Galaxy Tab will be launching in the US in a few weeks on November 10th.

The Tab will be launching on the T-Mobile network in the US. As well as launching on T-Mobile direct, Amazon will also be offering the Galaxy Tab on T-Mobile although the shipping date for Amazon is set at November 9th, a day earlier. Shipping is also free with Amazon on this product. [Read more…]

ASUS Tablet Details Arrive

ASUS has revealed a bit more information about its plans to launch tablets. The ASUS was reported to be buying Tegra 2 chips a few days ago and has now confirmed that several tablets will be arriving starting in December of this year.

Several tablets will be made available with screen sizes starting at 7 inches moving on to 10 and 12 inches. The 12 inch tablet will be a Windows based tablet running an Intel chipset. This particular model is not expected to hit until January. [Read more…]

Elonex eTouch Android Tablet Hits Toys-R-Us in UK

The Elonex eTouch Android tablet is being made available at Toys ‘R’ Us here in the UK. Price wise, it is being listed as the cheapest tablet around at just £90 for the smaller 7 inch model.

This puts it about £100 cheaper than the nearest rivals, the Next and Disco tablets we mentioned previously.

Two new models are being made available which includes the 7 inch priced at £89.99 and the larger 10 inch model priced at £149.99. [Read more…]

Novatech nTablet to get Android and Windows 7

Novatech is launching a new tablet called the nTablet. One of the main differences with this tablet is that it runs both tghe Google Android operating system as well as Windows 7.

When starting up the tablet, you are given the option to boot in to Android or Windows. The reason for wanting to do this could include using Android for a quick check of emails or a quick browsing session and then switching to Windows for more demanding tasks. [Read more…]

Google Nexus Two Could be Announced November 8

We haven’t heard much at all about the Google Nexus Two since initial rumours several months ago. Suddenly we heard this week that Carphone Warehouse will be getting an exclusive on it here in the UK. We now hear that Google and Samsung (not HTC) will be making an announcement on November 8.

GMail for iPhone Gets Updated

Google [GOOG] has updated the web version of GMail for the iPhone Safari browser. Two new enhancements have been made that make the web based email service easier to use while on the go.

The first change is the swipe gesture that acts better than before. Now you are able to scroll more quickly through your messages with the speed of the scroll matching the speed of your swipe. [Read more…]

Amazon Kindle for Windows Phone 7 Announced

Amazon has announced that Kindle for Windows Phone 7 will be launching soon. Not much, if anything at all, is different to other versions on other platforms. Release dates have not been provided yet other than the announcement says it will arrive sometime this year.

Just like other devices that run Kindle, you’ll be able to buy books from a library of over 750,000 eBooks as well as use the Whispersync technology to keep all Kindle devices you own up todate with where you are currently reading. [Read more…]

HTC HD7 microSD Replacement Possible

When Microsoft [MSFT] announced Windows Phone 7, we heard at the time that the storage memory would be located inside the device and would not be replaceable. This has turned out to be true in some cases, but some devices like the HTC HD7 use a microSD card internally. This prompted the:unwired to test and see if the HTC HD7 would accept a different memory card.

What the team did was take out the original Class 2 8GB microSD card and replace it with a class 6 microSD card of the same capacity. After a bit of trouble and a few hard resets, the new and faster memory card actually worked as it should and still does without any problems. [Read more…]

HP has quietly rolled out a new HP Palm logo showing the two brand names together.

100MB Broadband from Virgin Announced

Virgin Broadband is now offering 100MB broadband here in the UK.

Although you cannot get it just yet, pre-registrations have started for the service.
