Sony Ericsson Z-System Trademark – PlayStation Phone

Yesterday, Engadget managed to get hold of a number of pictures of what is believed to be the new Sony Ericsson Playstation Phone.

On one of the image the phrase Z-System was seen on the top left of the screen. After a bit of digging around it appears that Sony Ericsson also own a domain called z-system.com and that a Word Mark (trademark) of Z-System is also found in the US and Benelux trademark offices.

The description of Z-System shows that its software that interacts with software found on mobile phones, ie a gaming system could fall in to this category. [Read more…]

Samsung Galaxy Tab “Things to Know” Document Leaked

Verizon [VZ] has created a document for the Samsung Galaxy Tab called “Things to Know”. The document covers six points about the Galaxy Tab tablet device. None of the information within the document is new and its what we already knew from previous details.

What this document does is just condenses a number of facts on to a single page for those wanting to buy the tablet so they get a quick glance of whats available. [Read more…]

Palm Could Launch Five or More webOS Devices

HP might be launching more than just one new webOS device in the coming months/year. Right now only the Palm Pre 2 has been announced and launched (in some locations) but today we are hearing that around five or six new devices could be launched. These devices are likely to include tablets and smartphones rather than just some fancy printers.

iDOS DOS Emulator for iOS Devices

Apple [AAPL] approved a new app yesterday called iDOS. The app lets you run DOS on the iPad, iPhone and iPod touch. Just before getting on to what it does, its important to note here that Apple has already pulled the plug on this one although for jailbreakers, you can still use DOSPAD in its place to achieve the same things as detailed below.

That iDOS let you do is run DOS programs which means a whole lot of games can be played such as WarCraft II, 7th Guest and a whole lot more. [Read more…]

PlayStation Phone Caught on Camera

Several months ago, Engadget revealed some information about a new PlayStation phone being created by Sony Ericsson. Details about the device showed that it would be running Android 3.0 and that it would be the best combination of games and phone mixed in to a single package.

Sony Ericsson quickly dismissed the details saying that it wouldn’t happen this year (kind of leaving it open for interpretation). Engadget has now uncovered more details about the PlayStation Phone and actually has a few pictures of it. [Read more…]

Nook Color Announced by Barnes & Noble

Barnes & Noble has announced the Nook Color. The Nook Color is a 7 inch eBook Reader that has an IPS display inside with a resolution of 1024×600 pixels.

B&N have used what they call VividView for the screen which allows it to display 16 million colours. On top of the screen is a full lamination screen film that attempts to reduce glare from natural light as well as glare from behind the screen. [Read more…]

White iPhone 4 Reservations Added to App Store App

Apple [AAPL] updated the App Store App today to version 1.1. The new update now allows you to reserve products for pickup in an Apple store.

Along with being able to reserve regular products, one surprise shows the ability to reserve a White iPhone 4 although you can’t actually reserve it just yet. This has led a few people in to thinking that Apple might finally be getting close to release it. [Read more…]

Google Instant Arriving on Android Devices

Google Instant is a service from Google that streams live search results as you type them out. It allows you to search a little quicker as you can see search phrases and results being built up and predicted as you type. When you see what you want you then don’t need to hit enter, rather you just click the link to go where you want to go.

The service at the moment is available to logged in users on the desktop although we now hear that users of Google Android smartphones are now starting to see this service while performing searches on their handset. [Read more…]

Android Gingerbread Could Be Version 2.3

Google [GOOG] is getting ready to launch the next version of Google Android. What we do know is that the new Android version will be called Gingerbread. What we don’t know is what the Android version number will be. We have often referred to it as Android 3.0, as have many others. Some people refer to it as Android 2.5.

New Nook Color Render Spotted

Barnes & Noble will be announcing something tomorrow (Tuesday 26th October). Rumors and a few tips are showing that the company could be announced a new Nook Color. Some leaked/rumored information says that this particular device will have a price tag of $249 and will be a touch screen device although the technology behind the screen is unknown at the moment… meaning will it be OLED, LCD or something else.

The image below shows what is believed to be the new Nook Color. It showed up briefly on the B&N website in the accessory section and was described as a Nook Color Screen Film Kit. [Read more…]

Samsung Galaxy S Android 2.2 Updating Arriving November

Samsung has announced that the Samsung Galaxy S Android 2.2 update will be made available in November. In the UK it will be available on all phones by the end of the month while the unlocked, SIM free devices will get it early in November. We believe that the US variants such as the Captivate, Fascinate, Epic 4G and Vibrant will fall in to this category (full press release is below for you to make your own interpretation).

The software will not be an OTA update like on most other devices. Instead, a new version of the Kies updater app will be made available that you can download to your computer and initiate the update process through your computer. [Read more…]

11.6 Inch MacBook Air Teardown

Just a few days ago, Apple [AAPL] announced the new MacBook Air. Two new models were announced with the smaller one having an 11.6 inch screen. iFixit has done the usual and torn it apart to see whats exactly inside and let us know how easy it is to service the new laptop. Bad news is that its almost all propriety and therefore, difficult to put standard parts in to fix things or customise it.

Some highlights mentioned by iFixit include the scrapping of the IR sensor and sleep LED. These have been replaced by a USB 2.0 port on the right edge. Propriety 5-point security Torx screws are used to open it up although after that its all standard screws. [Read more…]
