Facebook Timeline Rolls Out in New Zealand

Facebook has begun rolling out Timeline to users in New Zealand. Timeline was first announced in September at f8. Timeline is a new way of sharing content about yourself on Facebook. The Timeline page is a single page that has all of your history in chronological order right back to the beginning of your account.

“We announced Timeline in September and made it available to developers building apps on our platform. Since then, over a million people have signed up for the developer beta to access Timeline. The feedback we’ve received so far has been invaluable. Starting today, we are making Timeline more widely available as we measure speed and other types of performance. We’ll begin by making it available to people in New Zealand and then roll it out more broadly in the near future.”

Flipboard for iPhone Launches

Flipboard is a news reader app that pulls content from a number of sources and presents them in a more friendly way. It was originally launched on the iPad only. The app has now been updated and with that update it has been converted to a universal app which now makes it compatible with the iPhone and iPod touch.

Windows Store for Windows 8 to Open to Developers in February

Microsoft [MSFT] has announced that the Windows Store for Windows 8 will be opening for developers towards the end of February 2012. What that means is that all developers enrolled will be able to submit apps ready for review and launch.

Siri Used to Control an Entire Room

A new plugin has been created that can allow Siri to control various items in a home. The plugin doesn’t have a name at the moment which means we’ll just have to call it the Room Controller plugin.

Since the Siri protocol was captured and figured out a few programs have been able to make use of the data and capture it on its way to Apple and then pass the needed information back to the phone with a result. We’ve seen this before thanks to plamoni who created some proxy software that could step in-between the iPhone 4S and Apple to capture commands.

iTether iPhone App Gets Removed from the App Store

Just a couple of days ago a new app was approved by Apple for launch. The new app called iTether, allowed PC and Mac users to connect up to the internet and share the connection from the iPhone. Although Tether were open and honest about the app and even provided a video demonstration at the request of Apple, Apple has now removed the app from the store.

A new app called Cluzee has launched. The app is available for Android smartphones and works as a personal assistant much like Siri for the iPhone 4S although in some cases, it’s a little more comprehensive.

Google Maps Turns Indoors on Android

Google [GOOG] has added a new feature to Google Maps for Android devices. The new feature lets you navigate indoors around a building and is even capable of telling you what floor you are on.

The reason for the new feature is that when you navigate to a destination such as from your home to the airport, you are taken door to door. With the latest version of Maps (6.0) you can now see exactly where you need to go when you get to the door of the airport. Accuracy is available within several meters and the software can detect when you move floors.

HTC Ville Pictured – Thinnest Smartphone from HTC

The image below is of a new device which is believed to be called the HTC Ville. The new device claims to be one of (or the) thinnest smartphone measuring just 8mm thin. That beats the iPhone 4S which is 9.3mm thick and the Galaxy S II which is 8.49mm at its thinnest point.

Apple iOS 5.1 Ready for Developers – New iPhone and iPad Referenced

Apple [AAPL] has seeded a new version of iOS to developers. iOS 5.1 launched last night and brings a few bug fixes as well as a few small features to the operating system. Also, we hear from 9to5Mac that an iPhone 5 and iPad 3 can now be found in the code.

The original Android smartphone has now got an Alpha version of Ice Cream Sandwich that can be installed. Although the T-Mobile G1 is a few years old now and Android updates were officially stopped at Android 1.5, some developers have managed to get the latest version working in some shape on the device.

Apple Black Friday 2011 Deals Leak
