Apple iPhone 4G to Launch in June – Rumour due to AT&T Blocking Holiday

This year it seems like Apple [AAPL] are actually going to launch the iPhone 4G a little earlier in June if a mixture of rumours and AT&T sources are to be believed.

The reason we think the iPhone 4G is coming in June is due to AT&T sources saying that the carrier has put a block on staff taking vacations in June (normally July in previous years). According to BGR, the only time Apple do a complete block on vacations like this is when a new iPhone is about to launch.

What we don’t understand is why the block is a month early unless the iPhone 4G is launching as soon as the announcement has been made (which we believe is June 22) and then carries on through the end of June in to July. [Read more…]

Apple iPad – The Worlds Most Expensive Name Tag

This is probably one of the more (if not most) expensive ways to let everybody know what your name is.

The Apple iPad application is called My Name Is and is simply used for you to enter your name and then wear it around your neck to let everyone know who you are.

When I say iPad app, I should probably clarify that it’s actually an iPhone application zoomed in… either way I guess it takes a special sort to want to use the app. [Read more…]

Dell Streak Tablet Leak – 7 and 10 inch Versions

Pictures of the Dell Streak Tablet computer have leaked. The images show a couple of tablets with one measuring 7 inches and the other measuring 10 inches.

We first heard about the Dell Streak back on March 10 although at that time it was thought to be just a 5 inch version previously called the Mini 5.

Regarding launch dates we are also hearing that the Dell Streak 5 and 7 will launch later (or even late) this year with the 10 inch Streak launching early 2011. [Read more…]

Apple Patent shows “Concert Ticket +” Application

Apple [AAPL] have filed a detailed patent that shows they want to get in to the Concert event tickets business. From what we see they are creating a new application to be called “Concert Ticket +” that works in conjunction with Apple iTunes and eliminates the need for paper tickets.

The system is designed to enhance the concert ticket buying process and from what we can gather, will provide access to live recordings of concerts you have attended, allow access to theme parks and other large events as well as let you know when concerts are happening nearby.

The system shows that users can store tickets on the iPhone for use at a concert. By possibly using NFC, ie near field communications with RFID tags, it would allow the iPhone, or other device to be used to authorise entry. [Read more…]

Olympus have unveiled a new collapsible Wide-angle zoom lens in the micro four thirds format. The new lens is called the M Zuiko Digital and has a range of 9 to 18mm (18-36mm equiv) with F4-5.6.

The lens when opened up about doubles in length. Reviews of the lens indicate the out of focus highlights are ugly, but that the lens is very sharp. Google Cloud Print – How Printers will be used on Google Chrome OS

Google [GOOG] have created an info-graphic that explains how Google Chrome OS will handle printing. The image above (and displayed larger below) shows the process of how Google are planning to work with printers.

The problem with printing on Chrome OS is that it’s cloud based and for that reason, the technology just doesn’t always communicate with traditional printers that require drivers to be installed to work.

While the emergence of cloud and mobile computing has provided users with access to information and personal documents from virtually any device, today’s printers still require installing drivers which makes printing impossible from most of these new devices. Developing and maintaining print subsystems for every combination of hardware and operating system– from desktops to netbooks to mobile devices — simply isn’t feasible.

Apple iPhone 4G Leaked Pics

We came across some pictures this morning of a device that is claimed to be the iPhone 4G or iPhone HD as some are referring to it as. The image show the back cover of the device and it appears to be heavily inspired by the Apple iPad with squared edges rather than the smooth curves of the current iPhone.

Of course these could be fan made and probably are, but they still look good enough to publish here if not just to see what we might be in for when the official announcement is supposedly being made on June 22.

On the back of the casing, 64GB is etched on indicating that Apple [AAPL] are increasing the storage capacity of the iPhone, which to be honest, wouldn’t come as a surprise. Also it says Designed by Apple in California Assembled in China. [Read more…]

Apple iPad No Flash Support Illustrated with Superheroes

It certainly isn’t new news that the iPad and any of the iPhone OS devices lack flash from Adobe, but this drawing attempts to illustrate it a different way than the normal complaints we hear and see.

The image represents a bunch of superheroes with one of the characters being called the Flash. As you can see in the larger image below… he is gone. [Read more…]

iPhone OS 4.0 Jailbreak Available for iPhone 3G

MuscleNerd has just launched RedSn0w 0.9.5 Beta that allows iPhone OS 4.0 to be jailbroke.

This is a beta release of redsn0w targeted at developers of jailbroken apps. It uses the same pwnage2 DFU-mode exploit that we’ve been using since the 2.x days. Nothing new is revealed to Apple, and it’s not applicable to the iPad. Don’t go near it if you use yellowsn0w, ultrasn0w, or blacksn0w.

As warned above, this isn’t for regular users. First off, you need to be a developer to get iPhone OS 4.0 on your iPhone (the beta version as the public hasn’t been release yet), and also there isn’t much that can be done just yet as developers haven’t really created any apps for 4.0 that would work on it just yet. Motorola Android 2.1 Updates Outlined

Motorola have outlined their Android 2.1 roadmap to get all their Android handsets current with the latest version of Android, ie, 2.1.

There are currently six Android phones listed by Motorola of which the DROID has already gone through the process of OTA updates to Android 2.1. Next on the list is the MILESTONE that also has had updates pushed out to it and this process “should” be complete by now.

The Motorola CLIQ and CLIQ XT are both pencilled in for a Q3 OTA update and following that is the Motorola BACKFLIP and some country versions of the DEXT. The Motorola DEVOUR however, is under review perhaps due to how recently it launched. [Read more…]
