Fujifilm W3 3D Second-Gen Camera Shipping

Fujifilm has launched a new 3D digital camera called the Fujifulm W3. The W3 is a follow on from the original W1 that launched a while back.

Features on the new Fujifilm W3 include a 3.5 inch glasses free LCD display. A HDMI 1.4 output is also included. To capture images the 3D camera uses two 10 megapixel sensors.

The 3D camera is capable of capturing video at 720p which is a step up from the VGA settings of the last camera. [Read more…]

ViewSonic ViewPad 7 at IFA

IFA 2010 has opened. At IFA, ViewSonic has the ViewPad 7 tablet on show. The ViewPad 7 is one of four possible tablet devices that are expected to launch this year.

The OS running on the ViewPad 7 is Android. The tablet will be called the OlivePad when it launches in India. The screen is described by Engadget as not that good although they say they have seen worse.

It runs a 600Mhz CPU and it works well with Android 2.2. [Read more…]

Samsung Galaxy Tab Android Tablet Makes Appearance at FCC

The Samsung Galaxy Tab has appeared on the FCC website. The Galaxy Tab is a new Android tablet device that is being launched at IFA this week.

The FCC provides a few details of the device such as the model number which is the SHW-M180S with the description listed as being a “1900 GPRS Mini-Tablet with Bluetooth and WLAN,”.

Reports show that it has wireless which connects up to 802.11a/b/g/n networks along with Bluetooth and 1900 GPRS. No mention of CDMA is present though.

This particular version will not be compatible with Verizon [VZ] although that’s not to say a CDMA compatible version won’t be coming as we have already seen some evidence of this model in the last few days.

We’ll keep an eye on things and look out for the launch tomorrow when the Samsung Galaxy Tab will be unveiled at IFA.

Motorola MILESTONE 2 to Arrive in Europe

Motorola has announced that the DROID 2 will be heading to Europe as the Motorola MILESTONE 2, like the Motorola DEFY, it will also be “enhanced” with MOTOBLUR. Unfortunately.

The MILESTONE 2 will launch with Android 2.2 installed which also allows for Adobe Flash 10.1 to be run in the browser. The CPU on the MILESTONE 2 is 1GHz and the device features the same slide out keyboard as the DROID 2. Essentially, it’s the same phone but branded slightly different for whatever reason.

Features of the Motorola MILESTONE 2 include the 3G mobile hotspot capabilities that allows for up to five wireless devices to connect up and share the 3G connection. [Read more…]

Motorola Defy Rugged Android OS Phone

Motorola has announced the Motorola DEFY. The DEFY is “enhanced with MOTOBLUR” according to the press release although most people believe that MOTOBLUR should be removed. Either way, it’s an Android based smartphone that is also rugged.

Technical specs show it has a 3.7 inch high resolution touchscreen that is WVGA. A 5 megapixel camera is included that also has a flash, auto focus and digital zoom. In regards to the Android operating system, it is Android 2.1. Orange HD Voice Calling Announced

Orange in the UK has launched HD Voice calling. The service is designed to cut out background noise while calling to provide crystal clear calls.

To make use of the service (which starts today), you need to have a HD voice enabled phone.

HD Voice offers a proven improvement in the sound quality of traditional mobile voice calls. The service eliminates the distance between friends, relatives and colleagues to make callers voices sound like they do when communicating face to face. Reducing the background noise, hisses and crackles of normal mobile calls, HD Voice also excels in noisy environments, so whether you’re at a football match or concert, on a building site or next to heavy traffic – HD Voice gives louder, clearer, sharper mobile calls. Viewsonic Android Tablet Announced

Viewsonic has announced a new tablet called the ViewPad 7. The ViewPad 7 is an Android 2.2 based tablet that has a seven inch screen, two digital cameras as well as plenty of connectivity.

For connectivity, it has Wireless, Bluetooth and 3G built in. The cameras are 3 megapixels for the rear and 0.3 megapixels for the front.

For storage it takes a micro SD card. GPS is also built in. [Read more…]

Google Buys Social Deck the Social Games Developer

Google [GOOG] has purchased a social games developer called Social Deck. Social Deck is a company that makes games for both mobile and smartphones which indicates Google are moving in to games development.

The games built by Social Desk are generally multiplayer based that work across networks. Popular devices developed for include the iPhone and BlackBerry smartphones. [Read more…]

Google Launch Gmail Priority Inbox

Google [GOOG] has launched a new feature in Gmail called Gmail Priority Inbox. The new service uses a system that learns which emails are most important to you and prioritises them based on how you use your email.

When emails arrive at Gmail, they are first scanned for spam and then discarded. If they pass successfully through the filter, Google then determines if the email is a priority or not and organises them appropriately.

The system learns what emails you read first, what you reply to and how you read your email. By learning what you do, it can then promote an email to a priority status so that you can sort through the most important emails first. [Read more…]

HTC Desire Android 2.2 Update for Orange UK Delayed

Orange in the UK has delayed the launch of the HTC Desire Android 2.2 update. The over the air (OTA) update was scheduled for sometime around now although the delays are pushing it back a few weeks, perhaps to the middle of September.

Reasons for delays from carriers usually revolve around the small customisations that they need to make to rebrand Android with Orange features although it isn’t clear in this case the reasons for the delays. [Read more…]

Toshiba Folio 100 – Tegra 2 Based Android Tablet Coming Soon

Toshiba are launching a new tablet. Toshiba have called it a Smart Pad for reasons we don’t know of as it appears to have specs just like a tablet.

The name of it will be the Toshiba Folio 100 if rumours are to be believed although no release date is known at the moment.

Technical specs show that it runs Android 2.2, runs an NVIDIA Tegra 2 and has a 10.1 inch screen that has a resolution of 1024 x 600 pixels. [Read more…]

Eagle Phone Concept

Eugene Kim is responsible for this concept design. It is called the Eagle Phone and is a dual screen device.

The concept was designed for a competition that LG is holding. The Eagle Phone wasn’t picked for the final although it did quite well.

The screens on the Eagle Phone are touch sensitive allowing users to interact with the device with one or both hands. The Eagle Phone also folds up as pictured below. [Read more…]
