HTC Desire Android 2.2 Update for Orange UK Delayed

Orange in the UK has delayed the launch of the HTC Desire Android 2.2 update. The over the air (OTA) update was scheduled for sometime around now although the delays are pushing it back a few weeks, perhaps to the middle of September.

Reasons for delays from carriers usually revolve around the small customisations that they need to make to rebrand Android with Orange features although it isn’t clear in this case the reasons for the delays.

When Android 2.1 was launched, it was also delayed by Orange. The best way to get the latest Android updates is to have an unbranded and unlocked phone.

We’ll let you know as soon as the latest update launches.

  1. Is it legal, according to terms and conditions of use to unbrand mobile carrier phone? Anyone here knows the effect in cases of Orange service in cases of problems with unlocked phone?
