Samsung Galaxy S gets DivX HD Certified

Samsung has announced that the Samsung Galaxy S is now DivX Certified for HD video playback at a resolution of 720p. This makes it the worlds first Android mobile phone to reach this certification level. Previously the Samsung Wave was the first phone to get DivX HD certified making the Galaxy S the second phone.

Along with that announcement, some details of the smartphone were re-emphasized such as the 4 inch Super AMOLED display along with the 1GHz processor and powerful 3D graphics.

To enjoy DivX video on the Galaxy S, consumers can load their video libraries of both standard definition and HD 720p movies in the DivX format on the internal and external memory (expandable to 32GB) and then watch their collections anywhere they choose. In addition, the Galaxy S can connect directly to other DivX Certified devices, such as HDTVs, turning it into a powerful mobile set-top box in the living room. The Galaxy S will also support the secure playback of major Hollywood titles in the DivX format from leading studios.

HTC T8788 Windows Phone 7 Heading to AT&T

The HTC T8788 is a Windows Phone 7 smartphone that is heading to AT&T [T] in the US. We can assume that the T8788 is just a prototype name and that a better name will be unveiled before it hits the shelves (perhaps the Tytn 4 – or whatever number we are at now).

The HTC Windows Phone 7 T8788 looks to be a slider phone although when sliding out the “keyboard” on the right of the device, it doesn’t reveal a keyboard. Instead a large speaker can be seen which indicates the phone is more of a media based smartphone than a new Tytn model. [Read more…]

Neato Robot Vacuum Gets Reviewed

Engadget managed to get hold of a Neato XV-11 robot vacuum to test to see if it’s any good at cleaning floors. The Neato XV-11 goes up against the Roomba as well as other makes and models of robot vacuums.

The Neato XV-11 is different in how it works when compared to the Roomba. When using the Roomba it has a large bumper across the front that when it bumps in to something, it changes direction. A sensor does detect an object but is there to just slow the Roomba down before hitting the wall. The Neato has a laser scanner installed that can scan the room while vacuuming to know where it can and cannot go. [Read more…]
