Sigma SD15 Digital SLR Camera

Sigma have revealed details of a new camera called the Sigma SD15. The SD15 is a digital SLR camera that is an upgrade to the previous SD14 model. The new model now accepts SD cards for storage and has a more durable shutter mechanism.

Other features include a new sensor that can capture images in RAW format up to 21 frames in a single shoot. The sensor is called the Foveon X3 and the image processing engine used is the Sigma TRUEII. A 77 segment AE sensor can be found on the SD15.

On the back of the camera is a 3 inch TFT screen that can display 460,000 pixels. [Read more…]

HTC Desire ROM now Ready for Nexus One

Last week we mentioned that someone had already started working on porting the HTC Desire ROM over to the Google [GOOG] Nexus One. At the time of writing that, the port wasn’t quite ready due to a few issues with memory allocations. We now hear that an Alpha version has been released.

As well as bringing Sense UI to the Nexus One, this Alpha release also brings flash 10.1 for Android to the phone. With it being in Alpha there are still a few niggles in the ROM that are still being worked out.

Lenovo Thinkpad W701 with USB 3.0 and 16GB of RAM

Lenovo have just announced their new Thinkpad X201 series of laptops that we just mentioned. We also hear that they have created some high-end laptops that come with USB 3.0 and 16GB of RAM. The new Lenovo Thinkpad W701 is the companies first Thinkpad to feature USB 3.0 and is capable of transferring date at up to 5GBps.

The laptop isn’t small as it packs in a lot of high-spec features that includes plenty of RAM at 16GB, a Quad-Core 2GHz Core i7 processor (on the top end of the range) and is capable of handling demanding visual editing.

The graphics card tops out at the Quadro FX 3800M that allows pro-level 3D rendering. Storage wise it has the option of either a harddrive with a 160GB capacity or an SSD with a 128GB capacity. [Read more…]

Casio EX-S7 and EX-Z35 Exilim Cameras Announced

Casio have announced the launch of two new point and shoot cameras from their Exilim range called the Casio EX-S7 and the Casio EX-Z35. Each of the cameras has a 12 megapixel sensor along with a 3X zoom lens.

The EX-S7 is capable of capturing video at a HD resolution of 720p and has the larger screen out of the two cameras measuring 2.7 inches vs the 2.5 inches of the EX-Z35 camera.

The Casio EX-S7 as well as having the above mentioned features also is compatible with SD memory cards. Camera functions include Dynamic Photo that creates a green-screen effect while taking pictures. It uses the EXILIM Engine 5.0 system that is an upgrade to the earlier version 4.0 model. This 5.0 system uses a CPU as well as a dedicated image processing CPU and with this combination it can produce images up to 30% quicker as well as providing greater colour and image enhancements. Origin Eon18 Laptop Announced

The Origin Eon18 gaming laptop has been announced that features a full HD widescreen that measures 18.4 inches. Powering the HD screen are dual NVIDIA GeForce GTX 280M GPU’s and when launched, will have an Intel Core i7 processor.

The Origin company was created by some ex Alienware execs who left the company when Dell took over a few years ago as they wanted to design laptops the way Alienware would have them designed.

Having all that power does put restrictions on the battery life though which Gizmodo mention is 45 minutes when unplugged and using the hardware to is max. [Read more…]

Windows Phone 7 Series Development Docs Leaked

XDA developers is a good place to visit to find gems of information along with ROMS and what not. In this case, a user on the forums managed to get hold of the development documents that show what is required when developing applications for the new Microsoft mobile operating system.

What the document also confirms is that the phone will be capable of multi-tasking, or I should say re-confirms as this was already known.

Developers seem to be quite restricted in the OS and will need to use managed code that will be closely audited. Tools to develop on the system will be Visual Studio along with Expression Blend. [Read more…]

Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-TX5 and DSC-H55 Announced

Sony [SNE] have announced a couple of new cameras called the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-TX5 and the DCS-H55.

The Sony DSC-TX5 is a waterproof camera that is also described as Sony as being the world’s thinnest and smallest certified waterproof camera. It can be dropped in up to 10 feet of water without suffering any damage. Features on the TX5 include Optical SteadyShot that stabilises images. The camera has a 10.2 megapixel sensor and is the first Sony camera to use a new CMOS sensor called Exmor R that is certified to be freeze proof down to 14 degrees F. As well as being waterproof, the camera can also withstand dust and shock from a drop of about 5 feet.

Video on this camera can be captured in HD at 720p format and as it’s waterproof it also allows you to capture HD video and pictures in 10 feet of water for up to an hour at a time. [Read more…]

HTC Smart runs Brew OS – Exclusive to O2

The HTC Smart is a budget phone that’s heading exclusively to the O2 network. The Smart runs the Brew operating system designed by Qualcomm and has the Sense UI as an overlay to that operating system.

The HTC Smart has a 300MHz processor along with 256MB of RAM. For storage a Micro SD card slot can be found. The screen measures 2.8 inches and can display 240 x 320 pixels. On the back of the phone a 3 megapixel camera can be found.

For connectivity the HTC Smart has HSDPA along with GSM/GPRS and Edge connectivity. Wireless networking is not included on the phone with it being a budget device, but you do get Bluetooth 2.0 along with A2DP stereo audio. [Read more…]

Leech Plug Detaches It’s Self When Charging Complete

When charging gadgets such as phones, an AC adapter still continues to consume some power when the gadget finishes it’s charging cycle.

Some phones carry warnings when charging starts reminding you to disconnect the AC adapter from the wall when charging is finished. The Leech Plug was designed to do all that for you in a new approach. Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 mini and X10 mini Pro Announced

Sony Ericsson have announced their latest phones in the Xperia X10 range. The new versions are called the Xperia X10 mini and X10 mini pro. Each of the phones are compact versions of the larger Xperia X10.

The X10 mini is a touchscreen device while the X10 mini pro features a touchscreen, but also a slide out QWERTY keyboard. Each of the new X10 mini’s runs the Google [GOOG] Android operating system. Each of the phones include the Sony Ericsson Timescape application which puts all information in one place allowing users to see at a glance any text messages, missed calls, IM’s and Facebook/Twitter updates all in one place.

HTC Desire Announced – Going to Orange in UK

HTC have also announced the HTC Desire today. Also, Orange UK have announced that they will be rolling the phone out over here in the UK.

The HTC Desire is another Android based phone. It runs the Android 2.1 OS and is powered by a Snapdragon 1GHz processor from Qualcomm.

The HTC Desire is 3G+ enabled allowing it to connect at the fastest speeds possible on Orange’s network. Other features on the phone include a GPS sensor, a gravity sensor, digital compass, 512MB of memory that can be expanded with up to a 32GB microSD card.

The screen on the HTC Desire measures 3.7 inches and is in WVGA format. The screen is capacitive and has an anti-fingerprint screen coating to prevent marks saying on the screen that normally plague touchscreen devices. [Read more…]
