Rumour: Google Nexus One on AT&T

BGR have posted a rumour/unconfirmed information about the Google Nexus One being made available unlocked on the AT&T network. The AT&T version will be 3G compatible. The person who provided the information to BGR also said that it will be a second unlocked model with T-Mobile still having the unsusidized version although I assume both types of phone will be sold on the Google site as previously mentioned.

Although just a rumour and very unconfirmed at the moment, we only have to wait till the 5th (next week) to see what Google has planned for the phone if that is what the press event is about. [Read more…]

Apple iSlate Tablet – More Rumours

Although nothing official has been announced about the Apple Tablet (to probably be called the iSlate), there are still a number of rumours floating around which still suggest it will be announced this month. The latest information says that the engineers and companies working on the project have all dropped off the map in the same way the same companies did back in early 2007 when the first iPhone was being prepared for launch.

The drop off the map is described by Josh Gruber as a “cone of silence” and sees Apple going in to meetings with potential partners with no prototype or presentation where potential partners are asked if they were interested “if they were to create a new platform”. [Read more…]

Blu-Ray to get Higher Capacity Discs

Blu-ray discs could soon see the storage capacities increased from 25GB to 33.4GB per layer thanks to a new methods of reading and writing data.

The science behind the new capacity is quite detailed and involves something known as i-MLSE (Maximum Likelihood Sequence Estimation) that in the near future will be calculated real time allowing for the larger capacities to be read successfully. [Read more…]

Ben Heck PS3 Slim Laptop Listed on eBay

Ben Heck is well known for hacking up consoles and making them in to portable units. One of them is a PS3 Slim converted in to a laptop style setup allowing it to be carried around and played on the go. The PS3 Slim Laptop has a 17 inch HD display allowing for crystal clear graphics.

The PS3 Slim Laptop has been listed on eBay now by altfeldtoy who mentions he actually won the PS3 laptop in a local business competition. Currently there are 26 bids on the auction with the latest amount being $3,350.00 USD. [Read more…]

ASUS Eee PC 1001P Available in Germany for Pre-Order

Over in Germany the ASUS Eee PC 1001P has just been made available for pre-order costing ‚¬249 which is the equivalent of about $357 USD.

The netbook runs Windows XP rather than Windows 7 which we would have expected. It also has a smaller standard battery capacity than other models which will probably restrict usage to below 10 hours. What it does come with is a new Intel Atom N450 processor that is due to launch January 6 which is also the official launch of the Eee 1001P netbook. [Read more…]

HTC HD2 to get Windows Mobile 7 Update in Russia

Back in November we came across a rumour that the HTC HD2 was to get a Windows Mobile 7 upgrade sometime in 2010. Although nothing is set in stone yet HTC in Russia have posted on Twitter that the HD2 will get a WM7 update sometime in the future. The tweet also says that only the HD2 will get the update.

What it doesn’t mention is if the update is for all HD2’s world wide, or just relating to those within Russia.

No release dates are known at the moment for WM7 that I know of so it’s unclear when the firmware update will be made available. [Read more…]

RC Star Trek Enterprise Hacked in to a Sub

This USS Enterprise from the famous Star Trek has been hacked and modded in to a fully working RC submarine. The Enterprise model used is the NCC-1701-A and as can be seen in the video below it actually works quite well under water.

The Enterprise Sub was created by a specialist team of modders called aqua modelers who meet up yearly to show of their latest underwater hackery. [Read more…]

Tekken 3 runs on HTC HD2

The HTC HD2 is capable of running the FPSECE which is a Playstation emulator for pocket PC’s and Windows Mobile devices. As the HD2 is a Windows Mobile device the emulator fully functions quite well.

The video below shows Tekken 3 running on the HD2 and from what I see it runs very smoothly. Some excellent updates have been created for the FPSECE emulator which allow Bluetooth controllers to function with the HD2 as well as it utilizing the multi-touch features of the phone. [Read more…]

Google Nexus One to cost $179.99 on Contract

Some screenshots were sent in to Gizmodo yesterday showing pricing plans for the Google Nexus One mobile phone. The web page (picture above and below) shows that the phone will cost $179.99 on a two year contract that will provide 500 talk minutes per month with unlimited messaging which includes SMS, MMS and IM as well as unlimited web browsing for $79.99 per month.

The other option shows the phone costing $529.99 unlocked where you can use your own SIM card. The unlocked version will be un-subsidized. [Read more…]
