Acer recently confirmed that it would be building a few new devices with one of those being a 10.1 inch tablet that runs Windows 7.
We hear from Digitimes that this tablet will run an AMD Dual-core C-50 Ontario APU (accelerated processing unit). This particular processor is capable of being powered while consuming just 9W of power. [Read more…]
Security flaws have been found in webOS by a company called SecTheory. Researches at the company managed to find a handful of these flaws.
The reason why these flaws exist is because of how webOS works with Javascript. The OS basically puts it closer to the core which is different than most other operating systems who keep it far away. [Read more…]
Google [GOOG] is about to launch some Google Chrome OS netbooks, perhaps in December but more than likely in the early months of 2011.
By digging around, TechCrunch managed to find some hints about the internal code names for netbooks being tested. The names “Mario” and “Andretti” both appear multiples of times, and even more so from October onwards, in bug reports posted on the Internet. [Read more…]
One thing the Apple iPad lacks it a bit of privacy where some apps are concerned. If someone “borrows” your iPad then they have full access to most apps and most data unless the app is password protected.
The Switch app in the iTunes store tackles the problem of browser privacy by allowing several users to use the browser, but by each authenticating with their own username and password. What this does is let users keep their own bookmarks, tabs and history so that others don’t mess. [Read more…]
One of the unknowns about the BlackBerry Playbook is its price. All we have officially heard so far is that it will be priced at under $500. What that exactly means is that it could range from anywhere at $499.99 and below.
A website called Mobility Insider claims today to have received specific information relating to the price. That claim says it will cost $399 when launched which is not a bad drop below the $500 ceiling price. [Read more…]
One of the problems with iOS 4.2 and AirPrint is the lack of compatible printers. As it stands right now, there are just 10 printers that can be printed on.
When iOS 4.2 for iPad was originally announced, we heard that all printers would be compatible if they could connect up to a Mac or PC and be shared. This of course drastically changed as shared support was removed with iOS 4.2 GM was released a few weeks back. [Read more…]
Recently, Orange hinted that it will be selling a subsidized iPad. The Three network has now joined in on the game and will also be subsidizing an iPad in the UK.
What that essentially means is that you’ll pay less up front for the iPad, but will also be committed to an 18 or 24 month data plan with a higher price per month to make up the cost over the term of the contract.
Three UK today announced it will offer new purchase options for iPad users, including more affordable prices when purchased with a data service plan, for iPad with Wi-Fi + 3G models in the coming months.
The ChevronWP7 tool is a handy bit of software that allows you to sideload apps on to your Windows Phone 7 smartphone which essentially, bypasses the Windows Market Place. Windows Phone is generally locked for those who are not developers.
The software is compatible with Windows based computers that run Windows XP service pack 2 and newer. The software is described as being able to unlock the device (not in a carrier unlock way) which basically makes the device in to a developers phone without going through the approval process. A mysterious press event is being held in France on December 9. The captured ad for the event shows several familiar logos which includes a phone symbol, X, Circle, Triangle and Square of course with the latter four of the five being Playstation controls. Mix that with the phone just before it… is the Playstation Phone about to be announced?
The image (in French) says that this event is to be the most anticipated in the last 10 years. The event will be hosted by Pierre Perron who is the DG of Sony Ericsson in France. [Read more…]
Canon has unveiled a design of a new camera. This particular camera has a 4K sensor capable of capturing video at 60 frames per second with a resolution of 7680 x 4320. However, don’t get excited yet as Canon won’t actually be launching this camera as it’s just used as a proof of concept.
What we like about the Canon 4k is its design that breaks away from the traditional SLR and DSLR mold that has been used for so many years. This camera looks more sleek and could be the way cameras move in the future. [Read more…]
T-Mobile and Microsoft have created a deal to offer the HTC HD7 on a buy one get one free basis.
The deal requires that two year contracts are signed, but if you purchase one of the HTC HD7’s you wont have to pay for the second handset. [Read more…]
On December 11 an event is happening called Angry Birds Day. At the moment, it is unclear exactly what the day will include, but some rumours are indicating that perhaps a console version of the game could be unveiled or that a movie is being made… perhaps even a Windows 7 version. [Read more…]
