We just gave a list of BlackBerry phones that are capable of being updated to OS 5.0… The operating system is actually ready now for download and can be found over here. Alternatively the other option is to use the BlackBerry Desktop Manager Software to see if the update is ready and waiting for you.

The HTC Desire was recently captured on camera for what seems to be the first time. The Desire was first spotted about 7 weeks ago early in September where all the information that was available there referred to it as a HTC Desire 6200. Also back then it was also indicated that it would be an Android based phone.

The photograph capturing the HTC Desire does confirm that it is indeed an Android based phone. The phone is branded by Verizon and is said to be a very similar size to the HTC Hero. A close look at the picture shows that there could be the usual trackball in the middle towards the bottom of the phone along with 2, possibly 6 hard buttons which I assume is send/end calls for 2 of them along with a Home button, menu, back and search possibly. Motorola have published the product pages for the new Motorola Droid phone due out soon. However, the page was only online for a brief amount of time. We won’t go in to why we think it was pulled so quick, but what it did reveal is the official specs for the phone.

The phone will have a 3.7 inch screen at a 16:9 aspect ratio that will display 480 x 854 pixels. Of course, it will also be touchscreen and we assume capacitive. A 5 megapixel autofocus camera will be found ont he back that will be capable of 4x digital zoom. The camera will also have a dual LED flash. Battery life see’s the Droid powered for 385 minutes of talk time along with 270 hours of standby and has a capacity of 1400mAh.

The processor running the Droid is clocked at 550MHz and connectivity is as can be expected with Wireless b/g, Bluetooth and EVDO Rev.A. [Read more…]

Amazon are now taking pre-orders for the HTC HD2 in the UK preparing for a SIM free launch date of November 20 2009.

PocketNow managed to get some screenshots of the upcoming Windows Mobile 7. New screen shots show a new call screen, calendar, contact page, email, text messaging and settings.

It seems like the leaked shots of 6.5.1 might actually be absorbed in to Windows 7 or perhaps we are looking at 6.5.1 (it is a little unclear it seems at the moment). But whatever we are looking at looks that a fancy new finger-friendly version is on it’s way.

We have mentioned the Sony Ericsson Xperia X3 a few times over the last month or so, but now we hear that it will probably be named the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 instead. The release date of the X10 is set to be February 2010 where it will be officially revealed just before at MWC 2010.

Although it will get revealed at MWC 2010, we might get some sort of official announcement in early November according to gsmarena. [Read more…]

When Windows Mobile 6.5 (aka, Windows Phone) was launched recently, it didn’t go down as good as what we had hoped for. The problem with it was that it just seemed like a slight upgrade to 6.1 with a lot of the 6.1 features being behind the scenes in the applications… ie, not finger friendly.

We now hear that a new version could be making it’s way soon. It has been unofficially dubbed as 6.5.1 and will serve as an intermediary step between 6.5 and Windows Mobile 7 due out next year. The new version is basically more polished with a few tweaks such as new anti-aliased buttons rather than the older Windows 3.1 look. The version is also supposed to be faster and sleeker as well as using larger icons to be a lot more touch-friendly. [Read more…]

The inPulse SmartWatch is described as an accessory for your BlackBerry Smartphone. The inPulse can be used to compliment your smartphone and be used to relay messages from the BlackBerry phone. Ideal situations might include being stuck in an office meeting and feeling your phone vibrate to inform you of a message. Over the weekend we posted some shots that we found regarding the Android 2.0 operating system that BGR managed to get their hands on. Just a day before that BGR also made a quick video showing HELLOMOTODROID which looks to be exactly the same phone.

Now BGR have shown us some full pictures of the phone including a number of angles showing us exactly what it will look like. The phone as mentioned, will run Android 2.0 (which from what I have read looks amazing) and will be slightly thicker than the iPhone 3G S. It is described as the thinnest QWERTY slider phone ever mad. It runs a fast processor and has a nice sized capacitive touch-screen for input. [Read more…]

Lots of mobile phone news today… Next up is the Sony Ericsson Xperia X3 that was just spotted live in the wild. The Sony Xperia X3 is an Android based phone that was first heard of a few months back.

Although the image is quite small and doesn’t really show that much details, it’s still good to see that the phone is actually getting nearer to production. It is also expected that both the X2 and X3 will be released at similar times as they run different operating systems. [Read more…]
