Darling DP2000 Pico Projector with Built in Windows CE

DP2000-ProjectorPico projectors have been springing up quite a bit this last year. Most are a tiny bit larger than a mobile phone, have a single or low double digit lumen rating and most have a 640 x 480 resolution. The Darling DP2000 is really no different in that it does all that. However, what makes this particular projector stand out is that it has a WinCE powered computer built in.

By having this capability it allows a full working system to be used on the 1 device making presentations, email, messaging etc… very easy to use. The DP2000 has a top mounted touchpad as well as a couple of mini USB ports allowing you to hook up a mouse and keyboard. [Read more…]

Solar-Panel Roads to Provide Power

solarroadwaysRoads generally aren’t interesting. They are just tarmac, asphalt or some similar material tough enough to take the constant hammering of cars driving over them for several years. A company based in Idaho named Solar Roadways intend to let roads be more useful than before by creating them as sections of solar panels that are strong enough to take a car driving on them, yet useful enough to power about 500 homes per mile of roadway (4 lanes). The company have been given a $100,000 grant to come up with a successful prototype.

The road system is built of 12′ x 12′ panels costing $7000 each and they are designed to replace the normal covering on roads and car parks. As well as covering the road and providing 7.6KWh for each panel the roads could have LED’s embedded in to create warning signs and mark the roads rather than using paint. [Read more…]

Asus E-Book Reader to have Dual Screens

Asus-Eee-ReaderThe Times have suggested that the Asus E-Book that is due out in the next couple of months could have dual colour touchscreens similar to what was prototyped by Asus at CeBIT recently. Also more rumours have now come saying it might actually undercut both Sony and Amazon in terms of price.

It might seem like quite a bold claim from Asus that they could undercut competing products with them also having a 2 screen setup, however, we are talking about a company who got the netbook craze moving forwards along with generally cheaper prices than the competition. [Read more…]
