Nokia C2-01 Announced

Nokia announced the Nokia X2-01 a couple of days ago. Along with that announcement they also passed out details of the Nokia C2-01. The C2-01 falls in to the budget range of phones and from what Nokia tell us, it’s there cheapest 3G mobile phone available.

On the front is a small colour screen along with an alpha-numeric keypad. On the back is a 3.2 megapixel camera. For storage it has an SDHC card slot that can accept up to 16GB SD cards. [Read more…]

Nokia X2-01 Smartphone Details Announced

Nokia has announced the Nokia X2-01 today. The new smartphone has a QWERTY keyboard below the screen and has a 2.4 inch QVGA display.

The X2-01 keyboard has been designed for those that use a lot of email and text messages and allows a more tactile way to type when compared to a virtual keyboard. Facebook has been integrated in to the X2-01 with friends status’ showing up on the home page of the device. [Read more…]

Nokia N8 Drop Test

Nokia has created a video showing the world how mobile phones are tested in terms of how much abuse they can take. This particular test, embedded below, shows two Nokia N8 smartphones being dropped repeatedly in a revolving chamber for about 120 seconds at a time.

The chamber it sits in simulates the height from your shirt pocket to the floor so that an accurate test can be performed. [Read more…]

Nokia C7 Up for Pre-Order

The Nokia C7 has gone up for pre-order on the Nokia site. Price wise, it will set you back £389 unlocked, or if you want it on Vodafone it will be free on a £25/month contract.

It is expected that all the main networks in the UK will be selling the phone soon. The networks include, O2, T-Mobile and Three. Virgin Mobile will also stock the C7. [Read more…]

Nokia N8 Teardown

iFixit has followed tradition and has now managed to get hold of a Nokia N8 to tear apart.

The N8s unique feature is that it has a 12 megapixel camera sensor. To cram the sensor in, Nokia actually made the camera protrude out of the case a little to keep the casing thinner.

The camera flash uses a Xenon flash tube that is similar to those found in real cameras. [Read more…]

Nokia N8 vs iPhone 4 Camera Comparison

With the launch of the Nokia N8 yesterday, one of the big questions about the new smartphone is how it compares to the iPhone 4 in terms of picture quality.

The Nokia N8 has a 12 megapixel sensor with Carl Zeiss optics while the iPhone 4 has a 5 megapixel sensor.

Engadget decided to run a side by side video and picture test to see which performs the best. Naturally you’d think a 12 megapixel camera would be the winner, but surprisingly the results are quite similar. [Read more…]

Nokia N8 Gets Reviewed Briefly

We mentioned earlier today that the Nokia N8 had started shipping. SlashGear managed to get hold of one today and have done a mini video review of the new smartphone.

The review goes through a basic unboxing that shows which cables are available along with the manuals, PSU and a quick overview of the phone. Software is demonstrated on the device and shows a number of features such as the video editing software thats built in, along with various other applications that run on the device. [Read more…]

Nokia N8 Unboxed

Engadget took delivery of a Nokia N8 it appears. They decided to unbox it to see what is included in the packaging. When first announced, the N8 was due to ship in the 3rd quarter of this year. We are on the last day today and it appears that Nokia kind of kept its promise in that some people should get their N8 today. Others will be waiting a little longer while production is ramped up.

Not much is different from any other phone unboxing in that you see the device its self, a charger, few manuals and thats all there really is. [Read more…]

Nokia N8 Now Shipping

The Nokia Conversations blog has announced that the first batch of Nokia N8 Symbian^3 smartphones have now let the production lines and factory over in China. What this means is that the official launch is just around the corner.

No specific dates of delivery have been given other than a hint of the devices arriving with customers over the coming weeks. The N8 is launching globally which means that production of the device will be ramping up over the coming weeks to make sure there is plenty of stock available in all countries that the device will land in.

For some users who were the first to pre-order, you could actually get your device before the weekend which basically means you’ll get it either today or tomorrow. [Read more…]

Nokia to Use Windows Phone 7 – Rumour

You need to have a pinch of salt type mind set when you read this rumour. We hear today that Nokia is looking in to using Windows Phone 7 on some of its smartphones in the near future. The information supposedly comes from Stephen Elop, the new CEO of Nokia, who wants the company to investigate alternative operating systems to use on handsets.

A while back, a similar rumour spread about the possibility of Nokia using Google Android. This was denied and hasn’t happened yet. We are inclined to think that this rumour is just the same and that Nokia will continue to work the same way as they have been for a long time. [Read more…]

Nokia C3 Touch and Type Feature Phone Announced

Nokia has announced the Nokia C3 touch and type feature phone. The C3 is similar to the Nokia X3 that launched recently in that it is a series 40 device that has a touchscreen built in.

The C3 has a standard T9 keypad for text entry. The touch screen can be used for navigating around the phone and reading messages. Design wise, the Nokia C3s body is made of stainless steel.

For network connectivity, it can connect up to GSM and EDGE and is quad band. [Read more…]

Nokia C6 and C7 Smartphones Announced

Nokia has a number of smartphone announcements today. A few moments ago we wrote about the Nokia E7 QWERTY slider phone that is aimed at business users.

These next two phones are aimed at those who enjoy connecting over social networks. The Nokia C6 and C7 each run the latest OS, Symbian^3. Camera wise, each has an 8 megapixel sensor that is capable of capturing HD video at a 720p resolution.

The Nokia C7 has a 3.5 inch AMOLED display and is built from stainless steel, glass and has soft edges. Price wise it will cost 335 when it launched (price excludes tax and subsidies). [Read more…]
