Samsung have unveiled their Samsung N150 LTE netbook that has a 10.1 inch WSVGA screen and an Intel Atom N450 Pine Trail processor. The new netbook’s screen has a resolution of 1024 x 600 pixels and is backlit by LED. The netbook has the option of a touchscreen if desired.

RAM on the N150 netbook is set at 1GB and for storage it has a 250GB hard drive. For connectivity the netbook has Bluetooth and wireless LAN. 3G connectivity is also being made available.

Three different operating systems can be chosen from when ordering the Samsung N150 which are all Windows based. You get the choice of Windows XP Home, 7 Starter or 7 Home Basic. Samsung have confirmed that they are currently working on a Chrome OS based netbook that could launch late this year. The Samsung Chrome OS Netbook won’t be added to their current lineup until late this year which could mean a launch later on this year, but also possibly in to 2011.

Although many of the official specifications are unknown at the moment, we have heard that the Chrome OS netbook will have a 12 hour battery life. For connectivity it will have all the usual built in which includes wireless and 3G connectivity. It’s hard to say what variation of wireless will be installed, but I expect in 10 – 14 months time that we should see 802.11b/g/n as standard to get the best connectivity speeds possible. Amazon have a good deal on the ASUS Eee 1005HA netbook running Windows 7 Starter. The processor running in this particular Eee 1005HA is the slightly older Intel Atom N270 that was super-ceded about a month ago by the Intel Atom N450 processor, but for doing web browsing and checking emails and such the N270 works very well. The ASUS Eee 1005HA has an 8.5 hour battery capacity which almost provides a day of work under less strenuous usage. The screen measures 10.1 inches and the keyboard measures a decent size compared to a full sized keyboard (usually 92% – 95% on the ASUS models. [Read more…]

This week the Symbian Foundation announced that the sourcecode for Symbian devices was now completely open source. To achieve this about 20% of the 200 or so 3rd party developers had requested their code be stripped out due to now wanting to open-source their code.

The information on this was revealed in an interview with Symbian Foundations chief where the future of Symbian was discussed. One of the more interesting points in the interview was where the question was asked about the possibility of Symbian-based tablets and netbooks to which the answer came…

“It’s very likely that, in the next year or two, you would see such a product hit the marketplace. A lot of companies are experimenting with PDA-tablet-style form factors, also for stereo systems, and internet-connected devices running low power on primarily ARM architecture ” we do get occasional interest for a few of those.” [Read more…]

The Acer Aspire One running the Intel Atom N270 processor is currently on clearance over at Amazon. As it runs the Intel Atom N270 processor, it is classed as being slightly older due to the launch of the Intel Atom N450 netbooks recently.

The netbook it’s self is still decent though with the N270 processor running at 1.6GHz. The netbook has 1GB of DDR2 memory, a 160GB SATA drive that spins at 5400RPM. For connectivity it has wireless built in that connects at 801.11b/g speeds. [Read more…]

The Samsung NB30 is now available in the US to buy. The NB30 netbook runs an Intel Atom N450 processor that provides more speed and utilises less battery power to achieve that. What this allows is a fairly decent netbook in terms of performance as well as longer battery lives than the previous Intel Atom processors available at the end of last year.

The Samsung NB30 is a semi-rugged netbook that has a spill resistant keyboard. The lid also has a coating that allows it to be protected from minor scratches and scuffs. [Read more…]

Gateway have launched a new Intel Atom N450 netbook on to the market called the Gateway LT2118u. The Gateway netbook has a 1.66GHz intel atom N450 processor, 1GB of DDR2 memory that runs at 667MHz and a 250GB SATA hard drive.

The screen on the Gateway netbook measures 10.1 inches and is in a WSVGA format and is backlit by LED. The screen can display 1024 x 600 pixels. An Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 3150 runs the graphics on this netbook. For connectivity the netbook has 802.11b/g/n wireless. Acer have launched their latest Intel Atom N450 processor netbook called the Acer Aspire One 532h. The new Aspire One runs a 1.66GHz Intel Atom N450 processor, has 1GB of DDR2 memory and for storage it has a 160GB SATA hard drive.

For connectivity the Aspire One netbook connects at 802.11b/g although no bluetooth is mentioned in the specs. The screen measures 10.1 inches and runs at a WSVGA resolution. The screen is backlit by LED and graphics are powered by the Intel GMA 3150 graphics chip. [Read more…]

Acer have officially announced their latest netbook called the Acer Aspire One 532. The new Aspire One netbook runs an Intel Atom N450 processor, has a 10.1 inch WSVGA screen and comes with 2GB of DDR2 memory.

The ASUS Eee 1001P was launched within the last week and features one of the new Intel Atom N450 processors that provide better battery life and increased performance. Although it’s not up to par with the 14 hours that the ASUS 1005PE provides battery wise, it still achieves 11 hours of usage on a single charge which is very respectable.

The Intel Atom N450 netbook runs at 1.66GHz. The 1001P comes with 1GB of DDR2 memory which can be upgraded to 2GB if needed. For storage the netbook has a 250GB SATA hard drive that spins at 5400RPM. With the launch of a number of new netbooks this last week thanks to the new Intel Atom N450 processor being launched, this has meant there are a number of discounts on older netbooks that run the previous Atom processors. Although the netbooks could be classed as being older, they aren’t that far behind the new N450 netbooks that we are now seeing. Netbooks such as the Samsung NC10 still is a respectable netbook. It has a 10.1 inch screen, 6 hour battery life, and a 1.6GHz Intel Atom N270 processor. [Read more…]
