T-Mobile US Galaxy Note now available

T-Mobile in the US is now selling the Samsung Galaxy Note. The large smartphone has been available in various locations since October 2011 but has now finally made it on to the T-Mobile network.

The Note costs $249 although to get it at that price you’ll need to mail in a $50 rebate. This is also the price of the device on a two-year contract.

The original Android smartphone can now run Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. Note that this isn’t an official update by any means, but some developers have managed to port Jelly Bean on to the device to see how it runs.

Google self-driving cars log over 300,000 miles of automated driving

Google [GOOG] has been working on self driving cars for a number of years now. Over time the company has managed to fine tune the technology so that they are almost in a position to be used on the roads. In fact, one state has already approved them although the rule is that a driver needs to be behind the wheel to monitor things.

Apple temporarily halts AppleID password resets over the phone

Since the hack last week, Apple has now suspended (temporarily) password resets over the phone of AppleIDs. The reason seems to be to buy them time to figure out exactly how and why the password reset happened.

iPhone 5 nano SIM tray pictured

Apple will likely start using a nano SIM when the iPhone 5 launches. The nano SIM is now an approved standard SIM card which means that Apple will be able to use it in smartphones and other 3G/4G devices. The whole reason for the switch is that it simply saves a little bit more space. With modern day smartphones, companies try to cram in and fill up every mm3 of space. By cutting down on the size of the SIM by a few mms it allows for another small component to be added etc…

iOS 6 Beta 4 download now ready

Apple released the beta 4 version of iOS 6 to developers yesterday. Along with that update, several new changes were included as well as a number of the usual bug fixes that prepare it for a full release in September or October.

Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 launches end of August

Samsung has announced that the Galaxy Note 10.1 will be launching globally at the end of this month. The new device is a larger version of the regular Galaxy Note smartphone. It has a 10.1 inch screen which works well with the S-Pen from what we understand.

eBay launches a same-day delivery service

eBay has launched a new same-day delivery service. The trial is running in San Francisco area and allows buyers of items from certain eBay stores to have those items delivered same-day for just $5.

The tests are being done in an exclusive-beta that anybody can apply to. If accepted you get emailed a link to join up. To benefit from same-day delivery, you need to spend over $25 in selected stores.

Dropbox resets some users passwords

Although Dropbox wasn’t hacked as such, hacks of other websites in recent weeks have allowed some users accounts to be accessed as they were using the same usernames and passwords on Dropbox as they were on other services that were hacked. One of these users was a Dropbox employee where someone logged in and took a project file containing email addresses of some users.

In order to protect the password part of the problem, all those users who were affected have received emails with details on how to change their password.

New accessories for the Nexus 7 have leaked. These include a new dock that makes use of the POGO pins on the side of the device as well as a new case for the device.

Nokia launching 808 PureView in the UK next week

The Nokia 808 PureView smartphone will be going on sale next week in the UK. The 808 PureView is unique due to the size of the camera sensor which is capable of capturing 41 megapixels.

Although carriers will not be offering the device on contract, it will be made available at Clove and will be sold for £499.99 inc VAT.

iPhone 5 event rumoured for September 12 with September 21 launch

The next iPhone is getting closer, perhaps closer than originally expected as we hear that there will be an event planned for September 12 with a launch of September 21 for the device. Although some are referring to it as the iPhone 5, it will likely be called just iPhone or the new iPhone to move away from numbers. It will actually be the 6th generation phone.
