T-Mobile G1 Android Jelly Bean 4.1.1 demonstrated

The original Android smartphone can now run Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. Note that this isn’t an official update by any means, but some developers have managed to port Jelly Bean on to the device to see how it runs.

The video below gives a quick demonstration of the G1 running the latest Android OS and to be honest, it runs relatively slow as the video producers also note. The device is using CyanogenMod 10 although it is very buggy but still lets users navigate around various menus.

WiFi is working and apps such as Google Now can be installed. On another downside, cellular data is not working on the device.

As the G1 is several years old now there’s a chance that many of you have a spare one kicking around that is probably begging for this update just for fun. The alpha build can be found here and a video demonstration of Jelly Bean on the G1 can be seen below.
