Apple Peel 520 iPod touch Phone Case

The Apple Peel 520 case is designed for the iPod touch and has been designed to turn the iPod touch in to an iPhone. The case of course is not an official Apple [AAPL] product and from what we have heard, it isn’t 100% perfect, but it does allow you to put a SIM card inside the case and make calls from the iPod touch.

Price wise, it will set you back about $57 when it launches although the product reviewed over at PCOnline is a prototype as the final models are not ready for launch just yet. [Read more…]

Motorola Droid 2 Android 2.2 Confirmed by Flyer

Another document has leaked that shows the upcoming Motorola Droid 2 along with five details of what is included in the new smartphone rumoured to launch next week.

The first detail on the list confirms that Android 2.2 will be installed on the Droid 2 at launch. In that announcement we also see that up to 8 apps can multitask which is two above what the original Droid can handle.

The 1GHz processor and Android 2.2 combination is capable of loading webpages 40% faster than the original Droid and thanks to the latest OS, the Droid 2 can be used as a portable Wireless Hotspot. [Read more…]

ASUS Eee PC 1016P Appears on ASUS Site

ASUS is launching the ASUS Eee PC 1016p netbook soon. The new netbook falls in to the 1000 range of netbooks and therefore has a 10 inch screen.

Other features include an Intel Atom N455 CPU running the device along with Bluetooth 3.0 for connectivity along with Wireless 802.11b/g/n for connectivity.

Storage wise it comes with a 320GB hard drive and has 2GB of RAM. Battery life is impressive and rated at 13 hours between charges which is more than enough for a business days usage. [Read more…]

Square Payment System Returning Late Summer

The Square mobile payment system took a bit of a break earlier this year due to a few problems with the fraud prevention infrastructure.

We now hear that the issues have been resolved, or are about to be resolved and that the Square payments system will be launching again late summer this year.

The device it’s self is a small square unit that attaches to an iPhone. The small square is capable of scanning credit cards so that transactions can be quickly and easily be made in stores. [Read more…]

Motorola Glam Hits Korea

Motorola is launching the Motorola Glam this month in South Korea. The new phone runs Android 2.1 and has a 3.7 inch screen that uses capacitive touch and is multitouch. It has a decent resolution of 854 x 480 pixels.

On the back is a 5 megapixel camera along with a dual LED flash to light subjects in dark lighting conditions.

For connectivity it has Bluetooth 2.1+EDR and we assume WiFi although this isn’t specifically mentioned. [Read more…]

iPhone 4 Unlock Download Available

Earlier this week Comex released the iPhone 4 jailbreak. Today, the iPhone Dev Team has released the iPhone 4 unlock that allows users to easily switch carriers.

The unlock comes thanks to ultrasn0w which has been updated to include support for unlocking the iPhone 4.

The version is 1.0-1 and it is compatible with the iPhone 4 baseband 01.59 along with the iPhone 3G and 3GS basebands 04.26.08, 05.11.07, 05.12.01 and 05.13.04. [Read more…]

BlackBerry OS 6 Will not hit Storm or Storm 2

RIM just announced the BlackBerry Torch 9800 this morning. The new BlackBerry Torch will run the long awaited OS 6 when it launches in a couple of weeks time.

Along with the launch details earlier today, a press release was sent out that indicates that older devices will not be getting an update to BlackBerry OS 6.

Subject to carrier certifications in the months ahead, the new OS is expected to be available for the BlackBerry® Bold¢ 9700, BlackBerry® Bold¢ 9650 and BlackBerry® Pearl¢ 3G, as well as future BlackBerry smartphones.

AT&T BlackBerry Torch 9800 with OS 6 now Official

The latest BlackBerry smartphone has been made official. The new device is the BlackBerry Torch 9800 which runs the new OS 6.

Features include a 3.2 inch touchscreen that has a resolution of 480 x 360 pixels. When launched, it will be headed to the AT&T [T] network.

Other features include a slide out QWERTY keyboard along with a wireless 802.11b/g/n connection and Bluetooth 2.1. The camera is capable of capturing images at five megapixels and the phone has a built in flash. [Read more…]

Microsoft Algorithm Reduces Camera Shake Blur

When capturing photos of anything, you often come across the problem of blurry pictures thanks to the camera slightly shaking when you take the picture.

The problem is more evident in low light situations where the shutter needs to stay open longer to capture enough light. Microsoft [MSFT] is working on a new system that uses motion sensors in all directions as well as a gyroscope that when combined, can feed back information to the camera and adjust the settings to compensate for the blur.

The system isn’t perfect just yet and a couple of faults can be found within the images, but from a quick look at the image quality when using the system vs when not using the system, there is a huge difference. [Read more…]

Casio EX-S200 and EX-Z800 Announced

Casio has announced a couple of new point & shoot digital cameras called the Casio EXILIM EX-S200 and the EX-Z800.

Each of the cameras use the EXILIM Engine 5.0 that allows capture in what Casio call super-resolution technology that allows for better quality digital zoom for close up images.

The super-resolution digital zoom technology is capable of providing a crystal clear image at 1.5 times the range of the optical zoom lens. [Read more…]

New Amazon Kindle Cases Ready for Launch

Yesterday, Amazon announced that a new Kindle is being launched in a few weeks time. The new Kindle has a lower price point along with a better screen and overall lighter and thinner than the previous Kindle.

A couple of cases are already showing up for the new Kindle. Both are made of genuine leather and are available in a folder-style design with an elastic strap to keep the Kindle tucked away inside.

To protect the Kindle, soft grey microfibre is used for the inner lining. With the new Kindle being thinner and lighter the case can also be a little slimmer than previous versions making it even more easy to carry around. [Read more…]

Viper SmartStart has released a new app for Android OS smartphones that allows you to use your phone to start and stop a car engine.

Up till now, the Viper SmartStart software has only been available on the iPhone and Blackberry devices, but now Android users can also benefit from the service.
