Roomba Robot Vac responds to Emotions
The Roomba Robot Vacuum cleaner is normally used to clean your carpets automatically. However, a group of researchers over at the Calgary University are testing the mixing of emotions with the Roomba.
The Roomba was modified to react to signals sent to it from a device that reads your stress levels. The device monitors muscle tension and eye movement in an attempt to let the Roomba know how you are feeling. If you are stressed out then the vacuum will back off a bit and move slower. [Read more…]

Samsung N310 NetBook Priced and Spec’d
The Samsung N310 is a netbook that has a 10.1″ screen, 1GB of RAM, 160GB HDD and an Intel Atom N270 processor that runs at 1.6GHz. It will be made available soon in the UK.
This ultra portable netbook will set you back £399 though which seems a tad higher then similar competition. It does look good in an odd way, but I am not sure I could spend £399 on this netbook. On the connectivity side the netbook has WiFi, Bluetooth and optional HSDPA/WiBro connectivity. A 5 hour battery life is possible on the standard batter with that being boosted all the way up to 11 hours by using the extended battery pack. [Read more…]
XBox 360 Style Games on a Cell Phone
A company are claiming that it will soon be possible to put the XBox level games on to a mobile phone. This is due to a new chip that they are launching that will greatly increase the power available to run these types of games.
The new processors by ARM will have enough power to handle all the 3D elements and smooth gameplay although playing them on a small screen might not be the most desirable thing. The good news is that mobile pico sized projectors are starting to be made available which we will soon see them embedded in phones. A mixture of a mini projector and a powerful ARM processor should give you a nice 50 – 60″ screen capable XBox console that you can carry around in your pocket. [Read more…]
Super Nintoaster – Hacked Toaster
The Super Nintoaster is an old 16-bit Super Nintendo squashed inside a hacked toaster. It’s a brilliant idea and actually works quite well as can be seen on the video after the jump.
The Nintoaster has no power pack as it’s built in to the toaster. You simply plug the toaster in and the toast slot on the left is used for the game cartridge while the toast slot on the right houses the ports to connect up to 2 controllers. Also the reset button can be found in that section. On the side of the toaster there are AV outputs with yellow for video, red and white for stereo audio. To switch the Super Nintoaster on you push the button down like you would to make toast and on come some bright red LED’s that can be adjusted in brightness with a control on the side of the toaster. iPhone Stylus and Touchscreen Cleaning Kit
All touchscreen phones have the problem that they somehow magically suck grease and finger prints from the air, even when you don’t touch the screen. If your phone suffers that problem, which I am sure it does, then check out this iPhone Stylus and Touchscreen cleaning kit.
The cleaning kit has a small reservoir of cleaning stuff stored inside that makes it’s way down to a sponge that is found of the end of it. Pop off the cap and you have the perfect screen cleaning tool that can clean your PSP, iPod, iPhone and any other smartphone or anything with a screen full-stop. Once you clean the screen with the sponge you use the carrying case to clean off the surface and buff it clean. The case is a micro-fibre case that makes it a good material for cleaning.
Now that you have a completely clean iPod screen you can now use the integrated stylus to tap away on the screen rather then using your fingers.
Overall… A very handy accessory available from Firebox costing £7.95 currently.
