ViewSonic has introduced a couple of new devices just ahead of MWC that kicks off in a few days time.

First on the list is the ViewPad 10Pro that is described as being a professional tablet. It has a 10 inch screen and is capable of dual booting between Windows 7 Professional and Android 2.2. The idea behind this is that the user uses Android for email and basic web browsing, but switches to Windows when a little more kick is needed. HP announced the HP Veer along side the HP Pre 3 and the HP TouchPad last night. The HP Veer is the smallest device announced and comes with a 2.6 inch screen that has a resolution of 320 x 500.

On the back is a 5 megapixel camera. Other features include Wireless and Bluetooth for connectivity. For storage, it has an 8GB capacity (6.5GB available space). The small smartphone is compatible with the HP Touchstone charger. It also has GPS built in. [Read more…]

HP made a number of announcements last night. The next of those after the HP TouchPad is the HP Pre 3. The HP Pre 3 is a follow on from the Palm Pre 2 with the new HP branding.

The HP Pre 3 has a slide down QWERTY keyboard and uses the same form factor as previous versions when under the Palm brand. It has a 3.6 inch screen that is capable of showing 800 x 480 pixels. This is a step up in terms of resolution from the previous versions.

On the back, a 5 megapixel camera can be found. There’s a camera on the front as well allowing video calls to be made between other Pre users as well as TouchPad users. [Read more…]

The LG Optimus 3D is one of the first phones to have a 3D screen along with a dual-camera setup on the back to capture pictures. Others have been made but generally, those didn’t hit mainstream over this way.

A teaser video was sent to Pocket Lint that shows a few details about the device. The video is quite dark and it’s difficult to see the finer details of the new 3D smartphone, but it does let us know a few things about it. [Read more…]

Earlier today we mentioned that Sony Ericsson was to officially announce the Xperia Play smartphone this coming weekend at MWC. Since that announcement, O2 in the UK has now stepped up to indicate that they will be carrying the Xperia Play on its network. O2 made the announcement on its official Twitter feed this morning.

New information today reveals that Google might be releasing a new version of Android as early as April. The new version will be designed for smartphones and will follow along with the 2.X branch being called Android 2.4. Here’s something interesting though as it is now believed that Google will call Android 2.4 Gingerbread even though Gingerbread already exists as 2.3.

The reasons for this seem to follow along with how Android 3.0 Honeycomb apps will work in that dual-core apps designed for Honeycomb will then be made compatible with single-core apps on devices running Android 2.4. Nokia has announced the launch of the Nokia E7. The new business class smartphone will begin shipping to select markets this week although the company haven’t specified exactly where that is.

We have heard hints that the E7 will launch first in the UK, but other than that we could take a guess that it will be also introduced in a handful of countries across Europe. Nokia does mention that the E7 will quickly move to other markets within the coming weeks though. [Read more…]

For those of you in the UK, the Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc will be launched in April this year. The new smartphone will be launched on the Three network although the exact date and pricing have not yet been revealed.

The Xperia Arc is an Android device running the latest version which is 2.3 AKA Gingerbread. It has a 4.2 inch screen and a 1GHz processor. [Read more…]
