3 new Nikon DSLR Cameras Coming Soon – Rumour

Nikon Rumors are reporting that potentially three new Nikon Digital SLR cameras are in the pipeline and getting ready to be launched. This could include a Nikon D4000 that will be an entry level camera.

A second camera is mentioned and is said to have 39 AF points, 16 Megapixels with a 6300 ISO + HI2 position, the ability to capture at 24 frames per second in 1080p and an optional MB-D11 grip.

The PRO DLSR has 51 AF points currently with the D90 having 11 AF points. This leads Nikon Rumors in to thinking the 39 AF points of the 2nd camera mentioned above makes it a replacement of the D90 or a new product that fits somewhere inbetween the D90 and the Pro. [Read more…]

MacBook Pro 15 Inch Teardown

iFixit have been working hard again. This time they have done a teardown of a 15 inch MacBook Pro that was launched just a few days ago.

It didn’t take long for iFixit to achieve this teardown and from what we see inside there isn’t much different from the previous version of the MacBook Pro from last year. The processor has obviously changed and from what we hear there is a new antenna in there along with a slightly larger battery and tri-wing screws which are new to this build. [Read more…]

iPhone OS 4.0 Jailbreak Available for iPhone 3G

MuscleNerd has just launched RedSn0w 0.9.5 Beta that allows iPhone OS 4.0 to be jailbroke.

This is a beta release of redsn0w targeted at developers of jailbroken apps. It uses the same pwnage2 DFU-mode exploit that we’ve been using since the 2.x days. Nothing new is revealed to Apple, and it’s not applicable to the iPad. Don’t go near it if you use yellowsn0w, ultrasn0w, or blacksn0w.

As warned above, this isn’t for regular users. First off, you need to be a developer to get iPhone OS 4.0 on your iPhone (the beta version as the public hasn’t been release yet), and also there isn’t much that can be done just yet as developers haven’t really created any apps for 4.0 that would work on it just yet. Nokia X6 Review

The Nokia X6 is a music phone that aims to join the touchscreen device area of phones that Apple, HTC and only a few others have managed to make happen well.

The phone it’s self looks to be a slider phone from when you first take it out of the box, but it’s actually not and just a touchscreen device with no stylus or physical keyboard. Reasons for believing it’s a slider is due to it being quite thick (13.8mm) which is a fair bit for a phone without a keyboard. Looks wise it looks quite sleek still even though a little fatter than most phones.

On the front of the device is a touchscreen that measures 3.2 inches. It is capacitive and has a resolution of 640 x 360 pixels which Nokia call nHD although of course, it’s no where near a HD screen in terms of pixels on the screen although it does look very clear when using the screen. Above that is a front facing camera that allows you to make video calls. Below the screen are three buttons which are send call, end call and menu. [Read more…]

Apple iPad Banned in Israel

Travelling to Israel soon? If so it’s recommended you leave your iPad at home as the country has banned the iPad from entering the country. If you attempt to enter the country with an iPad you’ll have it confiscated and will need to pay a daily storage fee at which point you can then collect it on your way out of the country.

Reasons for this move are due to the higher frequencies that the iPad use and the interference it could cause if the iPad was used by the masses.

“If you operate equipment in a frequency band which is different from the others that operate on that frequency band, then there will be interference,” Nati Schubert, a senior deputy director for the Communications Ministry told AP. “We don’t care where people buy their equipment ¦ but without regulation, you would have chaos.”

3D Printing in Glass

We’ve seen a few 3D printed objects before at gadgetvenue and have been impressed with the progress made in terms of companies being able to print in more than 1 material at a time.

The next material to be added to the list is glass which joins stainless steel, ABS, acrylic, sandstone and other various plastics.

Shapeways are a company who are now offering clients the ability to print 3D objects in glass although it’s not as straight forwards as throwing them a model and them whipping it through a printer for an hour or so. In terms of glass the process is a little longer that uses recycled glass powder that is placed on a mat a layer at a time. This is then mixed with a binder and then baked to harden it up a little. The remaining white power is moved at which point the object is heated up to 750 degrees C in a kiln to make it in to solid glass. [Read more…]

Two firmware updates are hitting the 27 inch iMac today that fixes three issues on the Apple [AAPL] devices.

The first update is as follows…

27-inch iMac EFI FW Update 1.0, weighing in at 2.1 MB and requiring Mac OS X 10.6.3, is recommended for all quad-core 27-inch iMacs and addresses a pair of issues related to high processor usage and display backlighting.

– Resolves an issue that sometimes caused high processor utilization while playing audio through the headphone output mini-jack.

– Resolves an issue that prevented the display backlight from turning on after powering on the iMac.
The 27-inch iMacs are not the only current Mac models to have experienced problems with processor performance during audio-related tasks, as Apple’s Mac Pro line received a software update in mid-February to address its own issues with heat and performance while handling audio-related tasks.
