We just mentioned that the Samsung Galaxy Tablet firmware had been spotted. In that firmware some details were found about the specs of the new Galaxy Tablet due to be announced at IFA 2010.
We have now come across this screen capture showing the Samsung Galaxy Tablet coming to the Vodafone network in the UK which indicates it will have 3G connectivity built in and perhaps be sold subsidised.
Although the Samsung Galaxy Tablet has been confirmed by Samsung in the past, and confirmed it will run Android, we still lack all the official details including pricing and release dates. We’ve mentioned before that the HTC HD2 is capable of running Android thanks to some work done by guys over at the XDA Developers forums.
The reasons you might want to install Android on a Windows Mobile device is that the hardware is great but the current OS is just bad. It also won’t be eligible for a Windows Phone 7 update leaving users with Windows Mobile 6.5.

Vodafone has launched a new Wireless Mobile broadband hotspot. The mobile WiFi, or MiFi, allows up to 5 wireless devices to attach up to it and share a 3G or HSDPA signal depending on the area where you use it.
The Vodafone model is made by the same company who make the Three MiFi, Huawei and works very similar to the Three model in that you switch it on, it connects to a 3G or HSDPA network and then allows up to five wireless devices to easily connect. Unlike the older mobile broadband modems that required you install software to connect up to the 3G services, the MiFi models have software built in that connects up for you and allow anybody to connect by entering the correct encryption key. eBay is often full of random auctions. Today we came across an auction with a BIN (Buy it Now) price tag of $30,000. What you get for $30,000 is a lot of video games, consoles, accessories and more. Over here in the UK, a leaked Android 2.1 firmware was made available to download for the Dell Streak on the O2 network. It isn’t clear at the moment if this is an official ROM that O2 will eventually release, or if it was a test ROM.
Over in the US, it appears that the Dell Streak will skip Android 2.1 and jump straight to Android 2.2. This information comes from a member of staff at Dell who posted an answer on Twitter…

It appears that on August 18 the HTC DROID Incredible Android 2.2 update will be arriving, or at least will be starting to arrive OTA to users.
The information comes from Mashable who heard from sources that Verizon [VZ] were to start pushing the update this Wednesday.
We’ve heard from our sources that the Verizon team members already have Froyo installed on their Droid Incredibles. Now the update is essentially ready for primetime. Froyo has been making its way onto some of the most popular Android handsets in recent weeks. The HTC Evo 4G, the Motorola Droid and the Nexus One have the updated OS.

The 35 dollar tablet was recently revealed. It appears to be another type of cheap computing device that probably wont launch at $35 like previous attempts at the $100 laptop. But, we’ll remain hopeful that it does happen.
The video below shows the Android 1.6 based tablet running at some speed although the video looked to be running a little faster. If it runs as quick as it does in the video it will be quite amazing. What will be more amazing is seeing it launch at $35 which we hope it can as that will help out a lot of children learning in the future. [Read more…]
The Vlingo app for Android OS based smartphones has just dropped in price from $10 down to free. This is more than likely due to Google Voice Search which just had a large update recently which essentially duplicates a lot of what Vlingo can do.
The problem Vlingo was challenged was with the price of the app. With Google [GOOG] offering Voice Search for free, it seems to have forced the company in to doing the same. Another problem that could make Vlingo struggle is that Google could potentially start making Voice Search an integrated part of Google Android. [Read more…]
George Lucas has announced that Star Wars will be coming to Blu-ray next year. The announcement was made at the Star Wars Celebration V.
The announcement also mentioned that the Blu-Ray version would also be part of a box set with all six movies being included in the set.
‘Blu-ray is the absolute best way to experience Star Wars at home in pristine high definition, said George Lucas, creator of the Star Wars Saga. ‘The films have never looked or sounded better.
If you grew up in the 80’s then you’ll remember Bigtrak. Firebox is selling an exact replica of the MB original and it is now called Bigtrak 2010.
The Bigtrak 2010 is exactly the same size as the original and was actually created with the same moulds that were used to make the original.
For those who do not remember, Bigtrak works by feeding it commands on the interface that sits on top. You can tell it to move forwards, rotate, move backwards and flash a light on the front. When telling it to go forwards you work in lengths like “move forwards 5 lengths” and then rotate 30 degrees. A whole sequence could be programmed to make Bigtrak move around your living room.
