iPad Sets Record for Fastest Adoption Rate

When Apple [AAPL] first announced the iPad, a number of people said it would fail. However, the iPad has now launched and sales figures show that it was far away from being a failure in that 3.27 million were sold within the first three months of it going on sale.

It took just 28 days to sell the first million. Comparing this number to the original iPhone that took 74 days to sell 1 million, you get the impression that the adoption rate is high.

One analyst says that the iPad has the fastest adoption rate ever although this is based on some estimations. [Read more…]

Windows Slate Devices to Launch By Christmas

When the HP Slate was first unveiled at the beginning of the year over at CES we expected that it would be available a few months after. But as we now know, Apple announced the iPad shortly after and released it a couple of months after that. We are still waiting for the HP Slate.

HP then purchased Palm which included webOS and the Windows powered Slate kind of dropped of the radar a little. We are still unsure of HP’s plans and if they are to launch a Slate or not, but Steve Ballmer mentioned yesterday that a Slate would arrive by Christmas. [Read more…]

Samsung Galaxy S Sales Hit 5 Million

Samsung has a goal of shifting 10 million Samsung Galaxy S smartphones within the first year of launch. Just a few months after launching the smartphone around the world they have already hit 5 million. Just a month ago an announcement was made that 1 million of them had been shifted in the US.

It’s hard to say if they will reach the 10 million target as demand for the phone will naturally die down as various other Android smartphones get launched. However, they are off to a good start.

With the launch of the Samsung Galaxy Tab around the corner, this will also boost sales of the range of Galaxy Class devices. [Read more…]

Motorola CITRUS Andoird Smartphone Announced

The Motorola CITRUS is another Android based smartphone although this particular model runs the older Android 2.1 OS rather than the latest Froyo version.

The Motorola CITRUS has been designed to work on the Verizon [VZ] network and has a 3 inch screen with a QVGA resolution. Memory wise, it has 100MB of user space and a 2GB pre-installed microSD card. The 2GB card can be replaced with a card up to 32Gb in capacity.

Motorola DROID Pro Announced

As can be seen already today, Motorola [MOT] is launching another device called the Motorola DROID Pro. The DROID Pro is described as being a “mobile office in your pocket” and has a number of features that allow you to keep connected to business whilst on the move.

It runs the Android 2.2 operating system, it has a QWERTY keyboard on the front of the device that allows for quick text entry when replying to text messages or emails and it has all the usual connectivity such as Wireless, Bluetooth as well as DNLA for pushing media wirelessly around your home. Motorola Spice Android Smatphone Announced

Motorola [MOT] has announced the Motorola Spice. The Spice is a portrait slider QWERTY device that runs the Android 2.1 operating system. It has a 3 megapixel camera on the back that has a fixed focus and 8x digital zoom.

Memory wise, the camera has 256MB RAM, 512MB ROM and it also has a microSD card slot allowing for a further 32GB of storage to be added.

For connectivity it has Bluetooth 2.0+EDR as well as Wireless at 802.11b/g. [Read more…]

For the last six months, data from The Nielsen Company is showing that Android based smartphones are the most popular choice.

ASUS EeePad EP90 Tablet Launching Soon?

ASUS could be in the process of releasing a new tablet called the ASUS EeePad EP90.

The EP90 is reported as having a 1GHz dual-core Tegra processor. The screen is expected to be able to display 1024 x 600 pixels although the exact size of the screen isn’t known.

Memory wise, the tablet comes in two capacities of 16GB and 32GB . For connectivity it has Bluetooth 2.1, Wireless and has GPS for navigation and location based services. [Read more…]

Super Microphone Lets You Zoom In to Conversations

In the image above, you’ll be able to see a large yellow dot attached to the underside of the screens. This is a Super Microphone that has 300 microphones inside along with a camera along side it. What it does is allows users to zoom in to any conversation in the basketball court to listen in to what people are saying.

The idea behind it is that you can zoom in on conversations and listen to what the ref has to say, or each individual player if needed.

The system works by tracking where the person is and adding the sounds of each microphone together that can pick up a particular voice. [Read more…]

Samsung Galaxy Tab UK Price Revealed

After a month or more of waiting, Samsung has now revealed the price of the Samsung Galaxy Tab in the UK. SIM free the Galaxy Tab will cost £599.99 which makes it around £70 more than the equivalent iPad 3G+WiFi model.

Although its difficult to put the two together in terms of features, a lot of people still use the iPad as a benchmark for pricing. In this case the Tab is higher although you do get cameras and the ability to use it as a phone should you wish. [Read more…]
