ASUS have unveiled their latest slim LCD monitor range named the Designo MS Series. Five monitors are launching named the MS246, 236, 227, 226 and 202. Each has a 2ms response time with a 50,000:1 contrast ratio and they can all display full HD at 1080p.
ASUS claim the monitors have an extra 40% in power savings as well as Video Intelligence Technology and mixing that with a profile of just 16.5mm you have quite a nice looking screen to view. [Read more…]
A big annoying problem you come across when installing a TV is that it needs a bunch of wires connecting to it to make it work. LG have created the 55LHZ HDTV that has wireless features built in allowing you to drop a few of those cables. In fact, all that is needed for this TV is a power lead to get it going.
The LG 55LHZ is a 55″ screen that is backlit by many LEDs. Each LED can be switched on and off independently so that blacks are actually black. Up to 240 levels of brightness can also be achieved which overall gives 40 times more contrast than a typical HDTV according to LG. [Read more…]
AMD have created the Eyefinity graphics card that is capable of supporting up to 6 monitors. Most graphics cards struggle with handling just 1 30 inch monitor with a resolution of about 2560 x 1600 pixels, so for a graphics card to support 6 monitors it’s quite an achievement.
AMD have created a single GPU card that can handle six DisplayPort connectors each having a 30 inch screen attached to it. When the 6 monitors are connected the resolution is bumped all the way to 7680 x 3200 pixels and it functions as a giant screen. [Read more…]
The Times have suggested that the Asus E-Book that is due out in the next couple of months could have dual colour touchscreens similar to what was prototyped by Asus at CeBIT recently. Also more rumours have now come saying it might actually undercut both Sony and Amazon in terms of price.
It might seem like quite a bold claim from Asus that they could undercut competing products with them also having a 2 screen setup, however, we are talking about a company who got the netbook craze moving forwards along with generally cheaper prices than the competition. [Read more…]
The InterView Dual screen monitor is a single unit that is home to two pivoted displays. By being flexible it allows the monitors to be flipped over so that those who need to crowd around your desk can be more spaced out.
When flipping the monitors over the image on them is automatically flipped to. Each of the screens measures 17″ and has a resolution of 1440 x 900 pixels. Panasonic were showing off their 3D HDTV at a press event at IFA 2009. Unfortunately there were no cameras allowed while the 3D TV was on show, so you’ll just have to make do with some photos of the event it’s self and also another image showing some of the Panasonic TV’s that could be seem.
After HD TV, Panasonic believe the next step is in Full HD 3D technologies. Their product range spans from Broadcast Camera, to Blu-Ray to the TV in your living room. Sharp had an AQUOS LED Backlit TV on display this year. Sharp’s main aim is ‘High technology, and Super GreenĀ which will be achieved through the use of LED and a mixture of solar at their production plant. Sharpe have over 40 years of experience with LED’s since 1968 and have now created a new plant in Sakai Japan where they will be able to create 13 million HDTV’s a year. As part of their green initiative they also plan to create an 18MWatt solar panel plant on the roof of the Sakai building. Sharps other goal is to make larger and thinner displays.
On to the AQUOS range of TV’s we see that they have created the LC-46LE700E that runs at 46 inches in widescreen format. This TV is backlit by LED and runs at full HD at 1080p with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. [Read more…]
As well as announcing the LG LU7000 series TV’s, LG also announced 3 other new TV’s named the SL9000, SL8000 and LH9000 LED TV’s at IFA today. Each of the 3 new TV’s offers something new and each of them look fantastic.
The first is the new BORDERLESS SL9000 Edge LED TV. The Edge LED TV has it’s backlight actually around the edges of the screen allowing it to measure just 2.9cm in thickness. The glass on the front of the screen also goes right to the edge sitting flush with the bezel making it a complete smooth panel to hang on the wall. LG have launched the new LU7000 series range of LCD TV’s. The LG LU7000 comes with a built in DVD player and is on display now over at IFA in Germany. It is being announced right now and as soon as we get some live pics we’ll post them here. For now you’ll just have to make do with the nice shiny press shots.
The TV comes in 2 sizes of 19 inches and 22 inches and has a high gloss black finish. Thanks to the built in DVD player you get the benefit of only needing the 1 power cable and not having to have a separate player installed. The LU7000 series are not aimed at being your main TV but instead, could be placed in a kitchen or bedroom for example. [Read more…]
Shanghai Sanxin Technology Development are launching a laser based pico projector named the Lasen SMP-101. The laser based pico projector supports a resolution of 800 x 600 pixels and has a 250:1 contrast ratio and is rated at over 20 lumens.
2GB of memory is built in allowing for files such as PDF’s, AVI, MP4 and DivX to be thrown on to a screen. The laser projector is focus free allowing it to show a sharp image with out the need of focusing it. [Read more…]
Kodak have created a new OLED screen that is, as quite normal, flexible. However, that’s not it’s only function as it is also waterproof too.
The demonstration pictured below shows the flexible OLED screen being dunked in to water. As soon as water is detected an image of a fish appears on the screen. [Read more…]
LG are launching their new 15-inch AM OLED TV over in Korea in November. We should see it arrive over here sometime in 2010. The thin LG TV uses active-matrix organic light-emitting diode (AM-OLED) to function. This material provides better picture quality, uses less power than traditional LCD TV’s and are a lot thinner due to no backlight being needed for it to run.
Due to high prices we haven’t seen much appart from the Sony XEL-1 that still costs $2500 even though it has been out for over a year. If more manufactures make use of the AMOLED materials it should lower the cost. [Read more…]
