Backpack Used to Create 3D Interior Models

A new technology has been developed that lets you easily capture the surrounding area as a 3D model that you can navigate around.

The device comes in the form of a backpack that is loaded with several sensors and cameras that capture a building as you walk through it. Textures are captured with a camera and the 3D model is created from other sensors.

The company envisage that the whole world will be available in 3D if this backpack can be created and used. [Read more…]

Sharpie Liquid Pencil Announced

For those who prefer to use pen and paper rather than a smartphone or tablet, Sharpie has created a unique product called the Liquid Pencil. The Sharpie Liquid Pencil is capable of writing like a pencil but setting like a pen in that when notes are written on regular paper you can erase the contents of the notes. However, if you leave those notes for 24 hours to 3 days, the liquid pencil dries out and is un-erasable.

New Amazon Kindle Cases Ready for Launch

Yesterday, Amazon announced that a new Kindle is being launched in a few weeks time. The new Kindle has a lower price point along with a better screen and overall lighter and thinner than the previous Kindle.

A couple of cases are already showing up for the new Kindle. Both are made of genuine leather and are available in a folder-style design with an elastic strap to keep the Kindle tucked away inside.

To protect the Kindle, soft grey microfibre is used for the inner lining. With the new Kindle being thinner and lighter the case can also be a little slimmer than previous versions making it even more easy to carry around. [Read more…]

MiniPAK Fuel Cell Charger – Pre-Orders Now Available

The MiniPAK is a gadget that charges your mobile phone and other portable electronic devices. It uses Hydrogen to power gadgets and is capable of powering devices that require up to 2W of power.

The Hydrogen comes from what the company calls HydroSTIK’s that provide the 2W of power at 5V and 400mA. Power is delivered through a micro USB port that you can connect a multi-choice cable to.

We first wrote about the new charging gadget last month and actually first saw some details of it at CES earlier this year. The good news here is that the company behind it are starting to accept pre-orders. [Read more…]

If you want to make a film and do the invisible man trick, then this video green full cover suit is for you. The suit is designed to be used with the Chroma Key video effect allowing anyone who wears it to fully disappear.

Brother Create Self-Charging Batteries

Brother has created a new battery sized generator that is capable of charging another AAA battery attached to it. The battery charged through vibration and when you shake the battery it creates enough power to charge the battery. The battery sized generator also comes in a AA battery size.

To get it to work, Brother have put “an electromagnetic induction generator and an electric double layer capacitor” inside. Although regular vibrations wont be enough to power a gadget such as a digital SLR camera, we could see some use for these in low powered devices like remote controls for the TV where chucking the remote around the room would actually serve a purpose and keep the batteries running. Microsoft Xbox 360 Best Seller in June

NPD Group is reporting that the Xbox 360 was the best selling console in June this year. The console sold 29,200 or so more units than the Nintendo Wii which stands in second place.

The results do not include portable consoles such as the Nintendo DS that actually was the top-selling system of the month. But for home consoles, it’s a decent lead to have above the Wii.

A significant increases in sales has been seen when comparing the sales numbers from June 2010 to June 2009 which indicate a 35 percent increase in console sales thanks to more interest in the 360 and PS3. [Read more…]

Sharp 100GB BDXL Discs Launch This Month

Sharp has announced that they have created the worlds first available 100GB Blu-ray Disc. The new disc is capable of storing 100GB of data on three layers on a single disc.

The disc is called the VR-100BR1 and is a “write-once” disc that conforms to the BDXL format specifications. The new discs will be available at the end of this month over in Japan.

What the new triple-layer 100GB Blu-ray discs allow users to do is store 12 hours of terrestrial digital TV. [Read more…]

Buffalo has launched a new media-player called the Link Theatre LT-V100. The new model supports 1080p video, DTS, Dolby Digital 5.1 and also supports several formats which include MPEG-2, MPEG-4 SP/ASP and MPEG-4 AVC.

For pictures and audio it supports jpeg, bmp, png, gif, tiff, WMA, Mp3, WAV, OGG, FLAC and LPCM. [Read more…]

Key Fob Programming – Gain Access to Two Cars

It is possible to reprogram keyless entry fobs for vehicles without using any equipment to do so. All you need is remote control and the car. To do this you need to follow a certain procedure such as switching your car on and off a couple of times and holding a couple of buttons on a remote control.

Filear has instructions on how to reprogram a GM, Ford, Dodge, Toyota and Nissan vehicles. In the video below it shows how one guy successfully managed to reprogram his key fob to open both his and his wifes vehicle. [Read more…]
