A new patent for Apple [AAPL] has been published that gives details of a new universal docking station that is compatible with a number of devices that can be connected to it.
The system uses an elastic sponge-like material that conforms to the shape of the attached device meaning that special adapters are not needed to make the music players and phones compatible. We have received a few samples of printed objects in the past from Objet Geometries and each time we get samples we are more impressed with what they achieve. Out of the 3 or so samples we have received each one is slightly more advanced than the previous 3D print allowing for various types of plastics to be used on a single pass.
At Core77, Objet Geometries were demonstrating some printed objects which were just fantastic it has to be said. Objects ranged from a set of wheels with soft rubber tires that had working suspension and a rigid frame work. What makes it more impressive is that everything was printed with a single pass. Basically you feed the machine with a type of CAD file that contains the 3D data and plastic data and it prints the object out for you. [Read more…]
After a few days of silence from TechCrunch about the JooJoo being unveiled on Monday, they have finally spoken up saying they have filed a lawsuit against the JooJoo’s creators Fusion Garage.
The causes of action include Fraud and Deceit, Misappropriation of Business Ideas, Breach of Fiduciary Duty, Unfair Competitition and Violatioins of the Lanham Act.

VMWare are known for allowing multiple desktops to run on a computer by virtualizing the operating systems. The company are now bringing the same type of software to smartphones that will allow the phones to run a couple of OS’s at the same time.
When used on a desktop you boot up in to your regular operating system and launch VMWare where you can load up another operating system within a window. VMWare want this same kind of functionality on phones allowing both a personal and a work operating system to be used on a single phone at the same time. Right now the only way two operating systems can happen is by dual booting the phone which is limited in that you have to choose one or the other OS, but not both. [Read more…]
ASUS are getting ready to launch a new device they will call the Eee Pad. The ASUS Eee Pad is a tablet based device that will have a screen measuring between 4 and 7 inches that will function as a tablet and MID.
The Eee Pad was inspired by rumours of Apple launching the Apple Tablet from what sources told Digitimes.
ASUS are well known for their Eee range of netbooks and should they add a tablet/MID to that range it will further boost the series of small devices. [Read more…]
Expansys in the UK are now selling the Motorola MILESTONE (aka, DROID in the US). According to SlashGear, eXpansys currently have an exclusive agreement in place that gives them full rights to selling the phone. You can choose to have the phone unlocked where it will set you back £449.99, or chose to buy a subsidized model which will lower the price, but lock you in to a contract for a certain amount of time.
If you sign up for an 18 month contract on the T-Mobile network the cost per month is £35 which allows you to get the phone for £49.99 which isn’t a bad price for what you get. [Read more…]
Pocket-Lint has found out information saying that an Android based tablet device will be revealed at CES 2010 by Dell. The tablet will go head to head with a number of new tablets such as the JooJoo and Archos Internet Tablet.
The new device will sit between the size of a smartphone and a netbook with the screen size measuring 5 inches. The device from Dell will run the Android OS operating system and be launched sometime next year in the UK. It is expected that the Dell Tablet will be first revealed at CES 2010 in January. We have heard a few rumours about an iPhone 4 being launched in 2010. One of the rumours started just a few weeks ago when a label called iPhone 3,1 was spotted in some statistics software. When spotted, 3,1 was an unknown designation and I believe this is still the case.
Reports are going around today that say Foxconn have taken an order for the next generation of iPhones, perhaps the iPhone 4. The company already makes the iPhone for Apple, and word from Cupertino said to start preparing the next batch of iPhones. [Read more…]
HTC have launched a software update for the HTC HD2 that aims to fix the camera problems that the model has had since launch. The update is described as being a Digital Picture Enhancement and was released just today.
The update from HTC provides clear digital pictures bringing it closer to HD then previous versions of the software.
HTC mention that you need to have ROM version 1.60.XXX.X installed, or lower which probably suggests that the next ROM update will include the new software as standard. [Read more…]
The USB Gadget Display is a tiny LCD screen measuring just 1.5 inches. The screen is designed to sit next your PC or laptop and provide feedback from sites such as Twitter and Facebook.
The screen is labelled as being inexpensive and can display full colour. As well as showing Twitter and Facebook updates the USB display gadget can also show various other gadgets such as clocks, CPU and memory meters as well as games and timers. [Read more…]
MiNEW have launched a new netbook called the MiNEW N20U that has a 10.1 inch LCD screen offering a 1024×576 display resolution. The netbook is powered by an Intel Atom 1.6GHz processor and comes standard with 1GB of RAM.
For storage the N20U comes supplied with either a 16GB SSD or 32GB SSD and for connectivity the netbook has wireless networking built in although it’s not clear just yet which variety is installed, we suspect 802.11g at the most. [Read more…]
Rumours are floating around again about the Apple Tablet which previously was “scheduled” for the second half of 2010. The new rumour says it’s actually arriving in March 2010.
According to this rumour the device will have a 10.1 inch touchscreen LCD display that will be LTPS rather than OLED that was previously mentioned. LTPS means Low Temperature Poly Silicone in case you were wondering.
Other information says the Apple Tablet will have a 64GB SSD installed for storage. [Read more…]
