The Wireless Page to TV Magnifier is a mouse sized device that is capable of transmitting close up images of text to your TV. The mouse has a 655 x 488 pixel scanner attached and wirelessly connects to a box stored behind your TV. When scanning the mouse over a page of text the text is magnified up to 25+ times to allow easier viewing.
On a 14 inch screen the magnification starts at 10X with a larger 32 inch screen showing a 28 times image. [Read more…]
The Photosimile 5000 is a 3D camera system built by Ortery that can capture photos of objects and create 360 degree representations of those objects. We first mentioned the Ortery Photosimile 5000 back in December last year although it has been in the making for almost two years… we now hear that it’s actually gone on sale costing $17,000.
The system works by placing an object on a turntable in the middle of a light box. A computer controls the rotation of the turntable and the position of the camera that slides along a track automatically. By capturing images from a number of angles you get a 360 degree representation of the object that can then be used on a webpage. [Read more…]
The HTC Supersonic was one of the phones included on a leaked roadmap of HTC devices to launch this year. A screenshot from the said phone has said to have been leaked to BGR and shows that the smartphone is to run Android 3.0.
BGR do say that the tipster is a new guy, so they haven’t been able to verify if it’s the real deal or not just yet. However, if real then it shows the phone running on the T-Mobile network along with the OS as being Android 3.0. [Read more…]
Windows 3.1 has been rebuilt to function in a browser. It was re-created by Michael Vincent as a personal site that actually functions just like Windows 3.1 did.
For those of you who don’t remember what Windows 3.1 is, it was the version of Windows used in the early to mid 90’s.
This particular version allows you to use the command prompt that shows it running MS-DOS 6.22, allows you to browse the internet, play Minesweeper, use Media Player (although media player does actually embed youtube videos rather than function how it did those many years ago). [Read more…]
TomTom uses a system called IQ Routes that uses real time and historical data to calculate the optimal route to your destination. By recording speeds of traffic at all times of the day the system knows which roads are slow and which route will get you to your destination the quickest. Two years worth of data has been collected with average speeds being calculated on free flowing highways in the US and the data reveals that people in the US don’t speed in general.
The report found that in some cases, speed limits were exceeded but in general the average speed was below the limits imposed on the roads tracked. Although we mentioned IQ Routes in the title of this post and the post it’s self, the data is actually calculated using data from Speed Profiles who provide the historical database to TomTom and integrated as IQ Routes. The data is collected anonymously from GPS units sat in cars that are connected up via a mobile phone’s data plan so real time information can be collected. [Read more…]
No solid evidence has been found yet about the new tablet device from Apple [AAPL] that “might” be unveiled this Wednesday. However, a company called Flurry who analyse mobile applications say that they have detected around 50 devices that are connecting up from the Cupertino campus and appear to be tablets.
The devices that have been connecting up are running a new OS numbered 3.2. Some of the apps downloaded use Flurry’s tracking code and when downloaded the numbers are reported back to Flurry along with details of the connected devices. It is currently believed that iPhone OS 4.0 could be also launched on Wednesday, so if these devices are tablets and are connecting up with 3.2 then it could mean that they are using a slightly modified version of 3.0 to test the iSlate / Tablet on and maybe we’ll still see version 4.0 at launch. It took 3 years, 2 months and 11 days to finally hack the PS3 fully according to George Hotz (although it isn’t public yet how to achieve it, so for now we can’t confirm the truth of it). The hack was created by George Hotz who managed to use some hardware and software to break in to the system. Dumps of LV0 and LV1 have been created as well as the NAND. Other dumps will follow in the next few weeks it seems.
The exploit will not be revealed yet though while decryption keys are found allowing those who understand it all to hack in to their PS3. [Read more…]
There’s more reports/rumours going around about Apple [AAPL] and their iSlate or Tablet device saying that both AT&T and Verizon could be making it available on their networks. Up till now there hasn’t been much, if any, solid evidence that the device will exist but bits of information have been pieced together making it quite likely that the device will be unveiled next week at an Apple event where a big announcement will be made.
It is believed that a “world version” will be made making it compatible on CDMA and GSM standard networks which should be announced Wednesday. However, other rumours are saying a couple of versions will be made making each compatible with a particular network. Either way, I am sure it will be cleared up on the 27th. [Read more…]

Fujifilm and IBM have been working on increasing the capacity of magnetic tape and have managed to create a tape capable of storing up to 35TB of data on it. 35TB allows the tape to hold the contents of 35 million books which if printed/shelved they would require a shelf 248 miles long.
The 35TB capacity has increase storage by 44 times compared to the next largest tape and has been achieved by making the magnetic particles smaller and still capable of keeping their state. The tape measures 800 meters in length and per square inch 29.5 billion bits of data can be stored. [Read more…]
A test was done over at Gyford that put six devices to the test against each other to see which had the quickest input method. The list included a pen (yes, pen and paper), a keyboard, a Newton, Graffiti, Treo and iPhone. The Garmin ASUS M10 is about to launch in Taiwan and the company are now taking pre-orders for the smartphone.
The Garmin M10 will run Windows 6.5.3 when launched. This particular version of Windows Phone has a thinner task bar along the top allowing for more space for applications to run.
