Evernote 2.0 Beta Download Now Available

Evernote has launched the Evernote 2.0 beta for Mac. The new version has a number of new features such as in-app notebook sharing as well as Notebooks Stacks.

One thing to note before you run off and grab the new version is that it is still in beta and could therefor, crash a little and now work as you would expect. [Read more…]

Google Reader App for Android Released

Google [GOOG] has launched a new Google Reader app for Android. Previously users had to rely on the web based version on their smartphone, but now a full app, self-contained, is now available.

Dell Venue Pro Now Available to Order

Dell is now taking orders for the Dell Venue Pro. The Dell Venue Pro is a Windows Phone 7 smartphone that has been well sought after, and finally it looks to be here.. again. It was originally pulled due to some problems with WiFi and mislabeled batteries.

The phone costs $99.99 when signing up for a two year contract. Off contract, it’s priced at $449.99 ($499 for the 16GB model).

A larger 16GB model is available for an extra $50 taking the price up to $149. [Read more…]

Winamp 5.6 for Android Now Official – Wireless Sync Included

Winamp has announced Winamp 5.6 for the desktop. The new version is capable of pairing with the Android OS version and allows users to transfer music wirelessly to and from a mobile device as well as to other functions.

Winamp 5.6 features a new device management interface that supports wireless syncing of media, simple management of multiple connected devices and faster encoding and transferring of media to your devices over USB or WiFi. Stream media from a connected device without the need of transferring media to the local library. Wireless device syncing and streaming only available with Winamp for Android installed.

Microsoft Not Paying Windows Phone 7 Developers till Feb 2011

Engadget is reporting today that Microsoft [MSFT] will not be paying Windows Phone 7 developers until at least February 2011. At that point, it will be five months since apps were allowed to be submitted to the Market Place.

The problem here is of course that developers prefer to be paid quicker. Microsoft is already taking money for app it sells, but at this point seems to be holding on to it until everything (ie, technicalities) are ironed out. [Read more…]

150 Million Users Download Opera

Opera has announced in a unique way that it has now reached 150 million users. The announcement is available on an interactive inbox when you visit the Opera website. The announcement forms one of the emails up at the top of the list (you can also read the other messages if you wish).

Looking back towards the beginning of the 2 quarter of this year, Opera announced that it had reached the 100 million users stage, so adding another 50 million in 7 months isn’t bad at all. [Read more…]

1760 PlayStation 3’s Stacked to Make 33rd Biggest Computer

The picture you see here shows 1760 PlayStation 3 consoles networked together to form the 33rd largest computer that currently runs, in the world.

The Blu-ray drives have been ripped out leaving just the main inside boards to work together to give a fairly powerful amount of CPU processing. The system joins up to “168 separate graphical processing units and 84 coordinating servers” and is used by the Air Force in the US. [Read more…]

Windows Phone 7 “Massive” Update Could Land Soon

We hear today that the Windows Phone 7 update will be “MASSIVE” and that the release date could be sometime in January.

Features that it might bring to the new smartphone OS includes Copy/Paste, Bing turn-by-turn navigation as well as improvements to that surface. Multi-tasking is expected (in some shape or form) and custom ring tones are supported. [Read more…]

iOS Now Top of US Smartphone OS Share

Apple [AAPL] has passed RIM in the US and now holds the top spot for smartphones by a fraction of a percent.

Reports indicate that the total smartphone share (compared to feature phone share) is at 29.7 percent. When the smartphone section is broken down (seen below in the graph), iOS is showing to have a 27.9 percent share. This is now slightly ahead of RIM that has 27.4 percent. [Read more…]

Adobe Flash 10.2 Beta Announced

Adobe has released Adobe Flash 10.2 in beta form. The download is available for those using Mac, Windows and Linux and brings in support for Stage Video as well as a new playback infrastructure.

What the new infrastructure does is move more of the functions to the GPU to free up CPU usage. What this does in turn, is maes better playback with less resource usage on the CPU as well as improves text rendering, and full screen content on a second monitor. [Read more…]

PlayStation Phone Captured on Video

The PlayStation Phone has been spotted over in Greece. The device is said to have a 4 inch screen and run the new Google Android 2.3 Gingerbread update.

The video, embedded below, doesn’t show the games controller being slid out, but what you do see is a slightly blurry look at someone using the user-interface on the PlayStation phone. The menus look fairly smooth and there’s also a hint of customisation to the UI. [Read more…]

Apple 3D Glasses-Free Patent Revealed

Apple [AAPL] has been granted a patent that allows a number of viewers to watch 3D content without special glasses.

Apple’s solution, simply put, is to first track viewers’ position and movement, and then use that information to guide the projection of pixels onto “a projection screen having a predetermined angularly-responsive reflective surface function.”

In other words, each projected pixel would be beamed onto a textured, reflective screen in such a way as to reflect into the eyes of each viewer at angles that separate the image into left and right views, thus producing a 3D effect.
