Methane Powered Laptops Could Launch Soon

Materials scientists are working on a new type of fuel cell that uses methane to generate power. If the research and testing work is successful, it could mean that we get methane powered laptops for example.

Dell Streak Now Sold with Android 2.2

Dell is now selling the Dell Streak pre-installed with the Android 2.2 operating system as standard. The new offerings fall in line with the OTA update that is currently being pushed out to current Dell Streak users in Europe with the US to follow.

As well as offering the tablet with Froyo as standard, Dell is also selling the Streak in a choice of two colors of either red or white. [Read more…]

iOS 4.2.1 Jailbreak Update to iTunes 10.1 Recommended

Yesterday, the iPhone Dev Team released the iOS 4.2.1 jailbreak in the form of Redsn0w 0.9.6b4. Since its launch a few problems have been noticed while running the tool. The Dev Team now recommends that an update to iTunes 10.1 is best and for those running the tool on Windows 7, it’s recommended that you run the app in XP compatibility mode.

Also, there seems to be some who are unsure what a tethered boot is. For those running newer hardware on iOS 4.2.1, when you jailbreak it will require a tethered boot for now. This means that every time your iPhone reboots (ie the battery dies or it crashes), you’ll need to be next to a computer and re-run redsn0w to boot your device. [Read more…]

Amazon has lowered the price of the Panasonic TC-L22X2 720p HDTV. This particular HDTV has a 22 inch screen and is ideal for the bedroom or small living room. Built in functions include an iPod dock that can be used to play music (and control music) though the TV.

Nokia C2-01 Announced

Nokia announced the Nokia X2-01 a couple of days ago. Along with that announcement they also passed out details of the Nokia C2-01. The C2-01 falls in to the budget range of phones and from what Nokia tell us, it’s there cheapest 3G mobile phone available.

On the front is a small colour screen along with an alpha-numeric keypad. On the back is a 3.2 megapixel camera. For storage it has an SDHC card slot that can accept up to 16GB SD cards. [Read more…]

Acer 7 and 10 Inch Android Tablets Announced

Acer has announced a couple of new Android based tablets that could arrive as early as April 2011.

The tablets measure 10.1 inches and 7 inches with the 10.1 inch device having a resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels. This particular model will run a dual-core 1GHz processor. The smaller model details are also a little sparse at the moment although we do hear that Acer will be cramming in the same amount of pixels as found on the larger 10.1 inch model. [Read more…]

Apple iAds in France Appearing Early?

We just received an email showing a couple of iAd adverts showing up over in France on the SunLite App. The last we heard was that there was a December roll out in Europe starting with the UK and France first.

The images are marked with iAd in the bottom right of the screen and appear to be the real deal. What are your thoughts? Is Apple rolling out iAds in France a little early? Acer to Launch a 4.8 Inch Android Smartphone

Acer will be launching a new smartphone although the name of it is unknown at the moment.

From what we have heard, it will have a large 4.8 inch screen with a resolution of 1024 x 480 pixels. Acer describe the smartphone as 100% smartphone and 100% tablet with a screen size of 4.8 inches. The operating system running on the phone will be Google Android. [Read more…]

Metropolis II Race Track for 1,200 Toy Cars

Check out this crazy looking track. It’s called Metropolis II and is a custom build road system that can carry 1,200 cars at a time along with 13 toy trains. Around the tracks is scenery built from Lego.

Each of the 1,200 cars has been custom designed. The track starts by lifting 5 rows of cars up a steep hill and then letting gravity bring them down to the bottom of the track where they get lifted up again. [Read more…]
