Ballistic Cyclone Watch Review

We recently received a Ballistic Cyclone watch to review from the guys over at Watches Shop to see if it was any good and what it’s all about.

In the email asking if we would do the review a comment was made saying… “Ballistic watches are unlike any other wrist watch available on the market – they are the strongest, toughest and most durable watches available in the world.”

The watch it’s self is built well and has a heavy feel to it. It is covered in gold plating and although not to my taste it still is done very well. On the right side of the watch, three buttons can be found. The top one is used to start the stop watch where a large red second hand ticks around when starting it. The same button also stops the stop watch. The bottom button is used to reset the second hand returning it back to zero. The middle button is used to set the time and has 3 positions that allow you to set the time and calibrate the second hand to zero after changing a battery. [Read more…]

Try a Watch on with Augmented Reality App

Over the last year or so we have seen more and more augmented reality applications that attempt to merge real and virtual worlds together. The latest augmented reality app is one that allows you to try on a watch.

The system works by printing out a paper watch with a “T” marking on it. When the 82MB application is downloaded and loaded up you simply wear the T marked paper watch and wave it in front of your webcam. You then just need to select the watch you want to virtually try on and it appears on your wrist.

The application is compatible with Windows and Mac and is available for download now over at Tissot. [Read more…]

Childrens GPS Tracker Watch

lok8u-num8-children-gps-tracking-watchThe GPS tracker watch is designed for children to be worn so that their parents can keep track and know where they are. It might be classed as an invasion of privacy for children, but at the same time it could also protect a child if something unfortunate was to happen.

The watch is named the “lok8u num8” which I guess is in the txt-msg style that some people use and actually means “locate you” – “new mate”. The watch side of the device is just your standard watch that tells the time. Inside a GPS tracking chip and locator is found that has an accuracy of up to 3 meters which isn’t bad at all. The device works similar to how latitude works from Google in that the system uses a mobile phone network to send GPS coordinates to which then an authorised user can look at the location. GPS Watch with Data Logger, Photo Tagger and More

gps-enabled-watch_2The GPS watch houses 4-in-1 GPS features that let you track your location anywhere on the globe. The watch, as well as telling the time, allows you to track your location, acts as a data logger, photo tagger and a receiver.

The GPS watch can be used for tracking your car by the push of a button. It works by using intelligent LED’s that point you in the right direction back to your car or any other point of interest that you may have logged.

When you are walking back to your car the 360 degree directional lights on the watch will tell you which direction you should be walking. And then when you come within 50 meters of the saved location, the arrows around the watch face will begin flashing, and when you are within 15 meters the arrows will turn blue. This smart function is great for anyone who needs help finding his way back to their car or hotel. Don’t let a massive sea of cars get you lost when your trying to find your car after watching a live football game at a stadium.
