HTC Desire Android 2.2 Update Coming This Weekend – Official

The HTC Desire Android 2.2 update will start rolling out this weekend. The roll-out of FroYo is happening across Europe and is being pushed out as an OTA update to unlocked devices only. If you have purchased a locked HTC Desire from a network, you’ll need to wait “several more weeks” according to HTC.

myTouch 3G HD Rendering Appears Again

Another shot (rendering) of the myTouch 3G HD has arrived. This time, it shows the back of the device. Last time (yesterday), the front of the device was seen.

We just mentioned that the iPhone 4 on T-Mobile is now available in the UK. Also the iPhone 4 on Three is also available as of today. Out of the two carriers who launched the phone today, Three has some amazing deals. If you opt for a 16GB iPhone 4, you can pick one up for £99 costing £30/month. For that you get 500 minutes cross network, 5000 texts, 5000 three to three minutes and 1GB of internet which beats T-Mobile any way you look at it. If you opt for the £45/month plan you can pick up the iPhone 4 for free.

Sky 3D to Go Live October 1 Across Europe

During the world cup, Sky broadcast some of the matches in 3D. We now hear that the Sky 3D service is rolling out across Europe on the 1st October.

To use the service you’ll need to have a 3D TV and a Sky+HD service. When the channel first goes live, you’ll have access to the following programs…

· This year’s Ryder Cup, with three days of live coverage from Celtic Manor, as Europe take on the US in the most eagerly awaited golf event of the year
· Two of the biggest grossing 3D films to date – Bolt and Monster vs. Aliens – will make their 3DTV debuts

Amazon Kindle 6 Inch Model Out of Stock

Amazon has sold out of the Amazon Kindle 6 inch model. Normally this wouldn’t be such a big deal (although it has only happened once before in 2008), but recently Amazon launched a new Kindle DX that was cheaper and had a better screen. With this in mind, a number of people are speculating that Amazon could be getting ready to introduce a new Amazon Kindle with the same enhancements that the Kindle DX recently received.

When visiting the Amazon home page users now see the larger Kindle DX greeting them rather than the smaller model that has been on the home page for around a year now.

Bloomberg has commented that a new Amazon Kindle could be launching in August and with Amazon selling the last of the Kindle 6 inch model, it appears that they could be about to launch a new model in the next few weeks. [Read more…]

Panasonic 3D Camcorders Leaked – HDC-SDT750

Back at CES at the beginning of this year, Panasonic introduced a 3D camcorder. The 3D camcorder has now been spotted in a few leaked images which indicate the new 3D camcorder could be called the HDC-SDT750.

Apple iMac Line Updated

The Apple [AAPL] store has re-opened and is now offering some new goodies. The first which we already mentioned a few moments ago is the Apple Magic Trackpad that is now available to purchase.

Next up is the Apple iMac line that has received a welcomed update. Apple has introduced Core i3, i5 and i7 processors along with a new graphics chipset on to the new iMac line. Prices start at $1,199 for the lower end.

Speed wise, the top end have quad-core processors. Graphics wise, they now include ATI Radeon HD 5759.

“We took the world’s best all-in-one and made it even better,” said Philip Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Product Marketing. “With the latest processors, high-performance graphics and signature aluminum and glass design, customers are going to love the latest iMac.”

iPhone 4 UK Coming to Three July 30

Three in the UK will be selling the iPhone 4 both online and instore starting this Friday July 30. The iPhone 4 over at Three has some very competitive pricing that sees the smartphone costing £99 (16GB model) on the cheapest contract which is £30/month for 24 months. What you get for £30/month 500 minutes, 5000 texts and 5000 three to three minutes along with 1GB of data.

Three has put together a price comparison of three other UK networks (Orange, O2 and Vodafone – we assume T-Mobile will make prices available soon). The comparison gives a basic run-down of what you get for the same monthly price in terms of minutes, data, texts and iPhone 4 price. [Read more…]

Apple Store Goes Down – New iMacs Incoming?

We have been hearing rumours the last few days that a new iMac could be launching soon along with a few other products. The rumours started last week when stores were told to let their iMac stock deplete.

AT&T Upload Speed Fix Incoming

AT&T [T] is in the process of deploying a patch that will fix the problem of slow upload speeds on the iPhone 4 and laptop modems. A glitch occurred on the AT&T network a few weeks back that prevented HSUPA speeds from being achieved. AT&T has limited users to UMTS speeds although when the patch rolls out, the restriction will be removed.

According to Yahoo!, the problem is only effecting 2 percent of it’s mobile user base. The fix is being applied to some network equipment from Alcatel and will be deployed over the next 2 to 3 weeks. If successful, faster upload speeds will be achievable. [Read more…]

iPhone 4 Canada Model to be SIM Free

Apple [AAPL] is launching the iPhone 4 in Canada this Friday. As well as Canada getting the iPhone 4 this Friday, another 16 countries will also be able to pick up the new phone.

Just like users in the UK, iPhone 4 customers in Canada will be able to opt to purchase the phone SIM free and unlocked. This will allow the phone to work on any of the Canadian GSM carriers allowing the customer to choose a SIM only plan.

Price wise, the iPhone 4 16GB model will cost $659 CAD and $779 for the 32GB model. This is the equivalent of $637 and $753 USD. [Read more…]
