iOS 4.3 Release Date Could Be Early 2011

A rumored iOS 4.3 release date was set for sometime in December. However, it appears that this will not happen this year, but instead will now be early 2011.

The iOS 4.3 update was believed to bring subscriptions to the iPhone and iPad allowing news papers such as The Daily from News Corp to set up an auto-recurring subscription rather than relying on the user to re-purchase each and every week or month that the magazines are released. [Read more…]

Reports from Digitimes indicate that Apple [AAPL] is now shipping around 1 million MacBooks per month for this quarter. About 20 – 25% of those sales are believed to be the new MacBook Airs that launched a few weeks ago.

Apple iPad 2 With Retina Display, 2 Cameras and FaceTime Hinted

The Apple iPad 2 release date is expected to be 1 year from the original iPad release date, making it early April 2011. We continue to hear rumours about what will be included in the iPad 2 such as a second dock connector on the landscape side, a better screen, more RAM, smaller screen etc…

Some features that we expect to see include some kind of Retina Display, perhaps not with that title but at least a screen with a pixel density that matches the current Retina Display. We think the screen size will stay the same. We think one camera (perhaps 2) might be included with the front facing camera specifically being used for FaceTime calls. A 3 axis gyro is also a possibility. Basically, you only need to look at how the iPhone advances and then attach that technology to the iPad… and then extra technology is then attached back to the next gen iPhone and so forth. One of the problems with iOS 4.2 and AirPrint is the lack of compatible printers. As it stands right now, there are just 10 printers that can be printed on.

When iOS 4.2 for iPad was originally announced, we heard that all printers would be compatible if they could connect up to a Mac or PC and be shared. This of course drastically changed as shared support was removed with iOS 4.2 GM was released a few weeks back. [Read more…]

iOS 4.2.1 Jailbreak Update to iTunes 10.1 Recommended

Yesterday, the iPhone Dev Team released the iOS 4.2.1 jailbreak in the form of Redsn0w 0.9.6b4. Since its launch a few problems have been noticed while running the tool. The Dev Team now recommends that an update to iTunes 10.1 is best and for those running the tool on Windows 7, it’s recommended that you run the app in XP compatibility mode.

Also, there seems to be some who are unsure what a tethered boot is. For those running newer hardware on iOS 4.2.1, when you jailbreak it will require a tethered boot for now. This means that every time your iPhone reboots (ie the battery dies or it crashes), you’ll need to be next to a computer and re-run redsn0w to boot your device. [Read more…]
