iPhone 4 UK Price – O2 Reveal Tariffs, 1GB Data Limit and no Handset Price Yet

O2 is slowly pushing out information each day ready for the iPhone 4 UK launch. However, we still do not know the iPhone 4 UK price just yet. Good news (or not so good when we go in to more detail) is that the iPhone 4 UK O2 tariffs are now online. The bad news is that the limits for data usage are quite strict in that the top plan limits you to just 1GB of data per month.

The tariffs offered come in 18 or 24 month durations with the 24 month cheapest plan being £25/month. For that you get 100 minutes, unlimited texts and 500MB of data.

The higher end 18 and 24 month contracts see you paying up to £65/month (18 month) or £60/month (24 month) but each of those plans restricts you to just 1GB of data per month although you do get unlimited minutes and texts out of that plan. [Read more…]

Sony Vaio L All-in-One PC Review

We recently tested a Sony Vaio L All-in-One PC to see how it runs, how it performs and if it’s any good. To be honest, I’ve never really paid interest in the all-in-one style PCs so I didn’t really know what to expect.

Starting with the design and looks of the device, it looks great. The Vaio L has a large multi-touch screen measuring 24 inches in a full HD resolution. Below the screen is a stand that runs the full width of the device and forms part of the whole unit. On the back, a kick stand flips out that lets the Vaio L lean backwards slightly on a table. As with many other All-in-One PC’s there is just 1 cable going in to the back which provides power to the unit. This makes All-in-One PCs a lot easier to set up as well as cutting back on the clutter that regular PC’s have. Overall, it looks great sitting on a desk and when people see it, they always ask what it is and what it does. [Read more…]

Google Maps Navigation Hits Canada and Mainland Europe

Google [GOOG] has announced that Google Maps Navigation is now available for those in Canada and a number of places in mainland Europe.

The Google Maps Navigation service was previously available to just the US and UK, but the new version out today will allow you to navigate freely across more countries.

The reasons that Google could be doing this is possibly due to competition from Ovi Maps Navigation that has far more free navigation coverage than Google has. We wont know for sure and to be honest, we don’t really care what the reasons are. All we want is free satnav and Google as well as Ovi Maps can now provide that. [Read more…]

Apple iPhone 4 UK Launch on T-Mobile

T-Mobile today became the forth carrier to announce it will be offering the Apple iPhone 4 in the UK in the next couple of weeks.

As with the other three carriers, no pricing has been made available yet although we expect that T-Mobile, Orange, O2 and Vodafone will all announce prices either on or before June 15 when pre-orders open up for the new device.

For those unaware, Apple [AAPL] announced the iPhone 4 yesterday morning at WWDC along with a launch date of June 24 across five countries. Only US pricing is currently available which indicates on AT&T that a 16GB iPhone 4 will cost $199 with a 2 year contract or $299 for the 32GB iPhone 4 model. [Read more…]

iPhone 4 UK Coming to Vodafone, Orange and O2

The iPhone 4 UK launch is scheduled for June 24 here in the UK. Three networks so far have confirmed that they will be selling the iPhone 4 on launch day. These networks include Orange, O2 and Vodafone. Carphonewarehouse will also be offering the iPhone 4 although they sell for other networks rather than owning their own network.

Unfortunately pricing for the UK iPhone 4 has not been revealed yet although Geeky Gadgets has made a few estimates based on pricing + tax when compared to the subsidised versions over at AT&T. Estimations indicate that we could be getting the iPhone 4 in the UK for £169 for the 16GB version and £249 for the 32GB version although with the vast array of tariffs we have in the UK, we probably will see a free model on the higher end price range with prices varying in between for the amount you are willing to commit each month. Microsoft Windows Phone 7 Marketplace Policies Tweaked

Microsoft [MSFT] has made a few changes to the Windows Phone 7 Marketplace policies that actually give a better deal to developers. It isn’t clear why Microsoft has done this other than probably tempting more developers to develop with less restricted guidelines.

Before these changes were made there was a restriction on how many apps could be submitted per year under the developers licence. That limit was set at 5 application per year for the $99 payment to be in the developers system. This has now changed to allow for unlimited paid apps to be submitted with a restriction of 5 free apps per year. Once the 5 free apps limit has been reached you can pay $19.99 per free application till the end of the year when it renews with another 5 free submissions. [Read more…]

FaceTime allows iPhone 4 Video Calls over WiFi

One of the big features announced today on the Apple iPhone 4 was FaceTime. FaceTime brings video calling to the new iPhone 4 from Apple [AAPL] and allows users to use either the front facing video camera or rear facing video camera to make video calls to other iPhone 4 users over a WiFi connection.

Note that we mentioned “over a WiFi connection”. At WWDC, Steve Jobs announced that FaceTime in 2010 was a WiFi only deal, but that Apple is working with carriers to bring FaceTime over 3G networks.

FaceTime works right out of the box according to the Apple site. When making a call to someone you can click on the video camera and if available, the user on the other side will be prompted to switch to FaceTime. If they accept the video streams will be activated. [Read more…]
