The Google Nexus S release date is today here in the UK. When the price was first announced, the Nexus S weighed in at £549 which was actually higher than the dollar amount in the US, making it very expensive.

Amazon has updated the Kindle for Android app which is now at version 2.0.

Dell Streak Drops to $99.99 at Best Buy

The Dell Streak is currently available at Best Buy for $99.99. The offer is limited it seems and just for the holiday season. You also need to sign up for a two year agreement to get it at the new low price.

LG Optimus 2X Dual Core Android Smartphone Announced

LG has announced the LG Optimus 2X. The Optimus 2X runs a 1GHz dial-core processor (NVIDIA Tegra 2) and has a 4 inch WVGA screen. Other features include 8GB of memory that can be expanded a further 32GB by using a microSD card.

On the back is an 8 megapixel camera and on the front, a 1.3 megapixel camera. HDMI mirroring is available on this device and it is capable of playing 1080p MPEG-4/H.264 content. [Read more…]

Photo Print Cost Calculation Tool Created

Printing photos can be an expensive game if you’re not careful. The ever so helpful How To Geek, has created a spreadsheet that lets you calculate if printing photos in store is cheaper than printing in your home.

The spreadsheet requires you enter some details such as the cost of ink, how many prints per cartridge you get (from each color as well as black) and how much it costs to print in-store the amount you want to print. [Read more…]

Google Buys Zetawire Mobile Payment Company

Google [GOOG] has acquired a company called Zetawire. This particular company focuses on mobile payments although little is known about the company.

An analyst revealed one probable reason why Google acquired Zetawire was actually related to a patent they owned which is titled… “mobile banking, advertising, identity management, credit card and mobile coupon transaction processing”. [Read more…]

Verizon iPhone 4 to Add Just 14% Sales

AppleInsider has posted an interesting report created by Piper Jaffray…

Piper Jaffray analyst Gene Munster expects Apple to sell just 2.5 million additional iPhones in the US by adding Verizon as a carrier early next year, bringing 2011’s US iPhone sales to 20 million, with Verizon’s sales largely coming at the expense of AT&T.

Gran Turismo Series Sells 60 Million Units

Sony Computer Entertainment Inc has announced that the Gran Turismo franchise has now exceeded 60 million in sales since it first arrived in December 1997. The franchise has now been running for 12 years and 11 months.

Sales are listed in the image below and start with the original that sold 10.78 million copies and moves on to Gran Turismo 2, 3 A-Spec, Concept 2001 Tokyo and on to various Prologue versions and then finally 4 and 5. Total sales have hit 61.41 million. [Read more…]

Google Update the Android Market

For those of you running Google Android 1.6 and above, the company has now updated the Android Market to a new version. This new version brings a few new features that helps you to purchase apps more easily although it’s not rolled out to all devices just yet. The release will be happening over the coming weeks.

With a focus on improving discoverability and merchandising, we’ve introduced a new carousel on the home and category screens. Users can quickly flip through the carousel to view promoted applications and immediately go to the download page for the application they want. Developers have been very active in creating great Widgets and Live Wallpapers. To make it easier for users to find their favorites, we’re introducing two new categories for Widgets and Live Wallpapers. Applications that include Widgets and Wallpapers will be automatically added to those new categories.

Chrome OS Laptop Video Hid MENSA Puzzle – Solver gets Cr-48

Last week we posted a video of a bunch of new Google Chrome OS laptops being destroyed in various ways. To most people the message they would have got is that Chome OS is cloud based and you just get another Chrome OS device to carry on from where you left off.

Sylvain Zimmer had other ideas though. 2:24 in to the video an equation can be seen on a chalkboard in the background. Zimmer spent the whole day solving the puzzle which somehow equates to 19 16 05 05 04 01 14 04 04 05 19 20 18 15 25 when broken up and in his words, any geek could figure out that this says speedanddestroy. Entering those three words on the end of a goo.gl URL it took him to a page which told him he was the first to find the particular page and that because of this he could have a free Cr-48 laptop sent to him. Nexus S UK Pre-Orders Now Available

The Google Nexus S release date is almost here for the US and UK. For those of us here in the UK, we can now pre-order the Nexus S.

Pre-orders are now being taken at Carphone Warehouse where both contract and PAYG options are available. As for pricing, the Nexus S off-contract (PAYG) is £549.95. On contract, pricing is free for the phone on all plans £35/month or more and at the moment, £35/month is the cheapest plan. [Read more…]

Motorola 10-Inch Android 3.0 Tablet Photos

Although we’ve seen the Motorola Tablet demoed by Andy Rubin last week, at that time we only got a brief view of the tablet with no specifics as to how it looks. Some new pictures have been sent in to Engadget that show the tablet a little more closely although mr Blurrycam took the pics, so don’t expect anything too spectacular.

What we do see is that a webcam is located in the bezel at the top along side a Verizon logo. The name of the tablet isn’t known at the moment but it could be either Stingray, Everest or Trygon. [Read more…]
