Motorola MILESTONE Coming to UK December

motorola_milestone1According to SuperETrader, the Motorola MILESTONE (known as the DROID in the US) will be arriving on UK networks on December 7th.

Off network the phone will cost £439.99 including tax although if you wait to get it on contract that will probably reduced to next to zero.

The Motorola MILESTONE was a surprise when first mentioned in the US due to it running Android 2.0. The DROID was the first device to run this version of the operating system. The phone it’s self will have a 3.7 inch screen that is multitouch (capacitive) along with a slide out QWERTY keyboard. The camera can capture images at 5 megapixels and an LED flash is also included on the phone. [Read more…]

Sega Mega Drive iPod Dock

megadrive-26Wired came across an old beat up Sega Mega Drive and decided to tear it down to see what was exactly inside. Not surprisingly there isn’t that much… just a circuit board with a few chips on and that’s about that. The picture shows the Japanese model if my memory serves me correctly. The Japanese model had the cartridge lock (a flimsy bit of plastic that just bent if a UK/US cartridge was put in) and had the reddish highlight around the power LED.

Interestingly enough, they decided to take the main board out and put a regular iPod dock inside. The iPod dock was taped up and fit quite well as there is tons of space inside the casing. [Read more…]

Samsung Omnia 2 to get Swype Text Entry System

swypeIn September last year we first mentioned Swype, a system that was created by the inventor of T9 predictive text input. The Swype system allows you to glide your finger around a virtual keyboard moving quickly from letter to letter while it calculates what word you are wanting to input.

After about 14 months of waiting we hear today that the Samsung Omnia 2 on the Verizon network will be the first phone to use the Swype input system.

The Swype input system appears to work very well on the comparison. The video below shows text on an iPhone compare to Swype on another phone with the user inputting text with Swype being the clear winner in terms of speed. Of course it’s not a result for every iPhone user vs Swype user as it will all depend on the person entering the text, but at least it offers another option for text entry on a virtual keyboard hopefully that some people will like. Nokia 7230 Announced

Nokia have announced a couple of phones this morning. The first was the Nokia 6700 slide, and now we have the Nokia 7230.

The phone is a slight step down from the 6700 slider and runs the series 40 software and although it has a slightly larger 2.4 inch screen. The camera is capable of capturing images at 3.2 megapixels.

The phone allows you to easily share pictures on Ovi, Flickr and Facebook with 3G being used to transfer your images direct to those web apps.

Nokia 6700 Slide Announced

Nokia-6700-slide-2Nokia have announced the Nokia 6700 slide phone. The phone is a 3G slider phone that design wise, comes in a number of colours which includes pink, red, petrol blue, aluminium, lime and purple. The phone is also slimline.

The 6700 slide has a 5 megapixel camera that has Carl Zeiss optics which we expect will be as good as any other camera phone. An editing package is also included in the phone allowing photos to be modified as needed while on the move. You also have the option of uploading photos direct to the web from the handset bypassing the need to transfer through your home PC. [Read more…]

Driver gets a Hands-On Preview

driver4If you were a fan of Driver on the original Playstation then the great game is on it’s way to the iPhone.

According to the developers Gameloft, the game is coming to the iPhone with amazing physics along with fully revamped graphics and will launch next month.

Atari.com Now Has Classic Old Games to Play Online

atari_arcade_battlezoneAtari have updated their website recently to include a bunch of old classic games from the 70’s and 80’s. The games are all playable from your internet browser.

Games currently available are Asteroids, Battlezone, Crystal Castles and Lunar Lander. More games are to be added in the near future.

As well as a few old arcade games a few Atari 2600 games have also been uploaded that includes Yar’s Revenge and Adventure. [Read more…]

HTC HD2 Availble for Free on Some O2 Tariffs

o2-htc-hd2The HTC HD2 was recently launched on to the Vodafone network in the UK costing nothing on a £35/month plan and above. O2 have now started selling the HD2 and offering it for free, but for £45 on their network. The contract might be £10/month more expensive, but the more expensive contract only ties you down to 18 months rather than the 24 months of the Vodafone contract.

The phone it’s self has a very large 4.3 inch touchscreen and the HD2 runs the Windows Mobile 6.5 operating system that runs HTC’s own custom Sense UI which actually makes WM6.5 quite good from what reports say. [Read more…]

Camangi WebStation Android OS Based Tablet

camangi-webstation-android-tablet-pcThe Camangi WebStation is another Android OS based device in the form of a tablet. The WebStation will be launched next month for a price of $399. Camangi do mention on their site that there is an early bird price for the first 100 buyers of the Android Tablet although it’s not clear if $399 is the early bird price or full price.

The device has a 7 inch touchscreen and is capable of running for 5 hours on a single charge. For connectivity it has wi-fi. Other features include GPS for navigation, a microSD card reader to expand memory and the ability to check email from services such as GMail. [Read more…]
