Nokia Lumia 800 Windows Phone Announced

Nokia has finally unveiled its first Windows Phone device. It is called the Nokia Lumia 800 and has been dubbed the “first real Windows Phone”.

The new smartphone is similar to the Nokia N9 in design. Inside, it has some decent specs which show a 1.4GHz CPU, 16GB of internal storage and a camera that has an f2.2 aperture that works well with low light.

Nokia N8 Symbian Anna Update Arrives in the US

The Nokia N8 in the US is beginning to get an update which brings Symbian Anna to the smartphone. Symbian Anna was released a couple of months ago in other countries but now allows US users to also get the new version of the Symbian OS. As well as the Nokia N8 getting the update the C6-01 and the E7 are also getting the new software.

The Nokia N9 has been made available for pre-order over in Australia at the Harvey Norman online store. Two versions are being launched which differ in capacities with the lower end having 16GB of storage and the upper model having 64GB of storage.

Nokia WP7 Leaked Video – Probably Fake

The image below is a screen grab of what is probably a fake video of the new Windows Phone 7 Nokia smartphone (Sea Ray). Although the video looks quite official (other than the usual leaky shake effect leaked gadgets have), it does pull elements from other videos of products. But, we quite like the ideas given in the video and hope to see some in the future.

Nokia has confirmed that the Nokia N9 will not be arriving in the UK. The MeeGo based smartphone was first rumoured not to be arriving in the US and then confirmation came about the same happening in the UK.

Motorola Want a Windows Phone 7 Deal Like Nokia

Motorola is currently focussed on using Android in its smartphones. This could change in the future though as the CEO Sanjay Jha has recently commented that they would be willing to use Windows Phone 7 as an OS if Microsoft was willing to give them a similar deal as to what Nokia has.

Before signing any deal with Microsoft the company would need to evaluate the future of the Windows Phone 7 operating system:

However, he said that beyond Android and Apple’s iOS, it’s not clear which smartphone platforms will survive in the long term. He said he does not think all three competing ecosystems–Windows Phone, Hewlett-Packard’s webOS and Research In Motion’s BlackBerry–can survive.
