Dattoos – Concept DNA Based Technology

dattoo
The Dattoo is a DNA based personal technology that uses the skin of your body as an interface. Yep, it’s concept and one I don’t see coming out any time soon. It is designed by Hartmut Esslinger

To achieve absolute personal identification, the hardware would capture DNA from the user’s body, enabling direct participation in the political and cultural landscape. The technology would link remote users through engagement with their areas of interest…

Users view, test-drive, and select their product from a variety of options, both functional and aesthetic. They also set the life cycle of the product, to be utilized for a few hours or a much longer amount of time. Once users are satisfied with their specific configurations, they have this fully-functioning circuitry – including all UI-interactive and display functions – ‘printedĀ onto recommended areas of their skin. Energy would be pulled from the human body to run the programs. At the end of the day, users would simply wash the Dattoos off, beginning anew the following day.

The idea does seem a little crazy, but I guess it could have it’s uses such as quickly accessing information that you know you will definitely have attached to you (literally). Also IBM a few years back tested using living skin to transmit data across. This could mean you transfer music from a camera in your left hand to the PC you are touching with your right hand. I’d prefer to stick to BlueTooth.

It all sounds too freaky to me and I’d be scared to see a BSOD on my arm.

4D Virtual Human

4D-Virtual-Human
Scientists at the University of Calgary recently created a computer model of a human body. The body resides in a virtual reality room known as a Research Holodeck where the the 4D model floats in space by being projected from three walls and the floor. When created, the model had 10 times resolution of any other in the market. For a more detailed explanation check out ScienceDaily who have a full report of the CAVEMan.

1.6180339877 – The Golden Ratio

Compasso Leonardo Genio
You may or may not be familiar with the number 1.6180339877. It is the golden ratio or Phi and all related in some way to Fibonacci who calculated this ratio. A lot of things around you use this ratio such as a credit card and even your own body. Anyway, the point of this post isnt to explain what the golden ratio is.

This device pictured above uses the ratio of 1.6180339877. It is built of stainless steel, measures 175mm x 78mm and is adjustable. It will allow you to make the perfect or golden ration sized objects.

Cool Gorilla Talking Phrase Book

iphone_translator

iPhone Translator

If you own an iPhone then the cool gorilla is something you might want to check out should you be travelling in to Europe. Cool Gorilla is a web based app which is very simple and provides translations into six languages for popular phrases which you might need while travelling. To use the application you just need to browse to www.coolgorilla.com/iphone on your iPhones browser and tap away through the menus. When you select the language, category and phrase you want you have the option to tap on the screen and have the iPhone speak the phrase for you.

It would be cool if they could eventually translate your voice on the fly while talking, but thats a fair few years off yet. For now, you will need to make do with the cool gorilla translator to help you out of tough situations.
