Kinect Planted on Quadrocopter for Obstacle Avoidance

We keep seeing Kinect hacks each day and often think that the limits have been reached and that the creativity has almost reached its end… and then another Kinect hack shows up.

This time, the Kinect has been sat on top of a quadrocopter which in turn, gives the quadrocopter abilities to navigate around objects. The quadrocopter here has been given a pre-defined course and manages to scan the surrounding area to figure out where the floor is, where objects are and what the nearest point to the quadrocopter is. Mac App Store Release Date Could Be December 13

We could be seeing the Apple Mac App Store as early as December 13th. The details come from the AppleTell website who heard information from an inside source at Apple [AAPL].

The reason for this date is that the Mac App Store is believed to be running ahead of schedule.

An inside source has just told us that Apple is targeting a Monday, December 13th launch of the Mac App Store. The company apparently told developers to have their software prepared for a launch as early as Monday the 6th of this month, but our contact would be shocked if that happened at this point.

White iPhone 4 Release Date Could be Spring 2011

The mysterious White iPhone 4 that never arrived on time might actually have a new release date. The release date hasn’t been announced by Apple [AAPL], but was spotted on some official signage in an Apple store as having a launch date sometime in the Spring of 2011.

What this means is that the iPhone 5 could also be launching about the same time. Other rumours/suggestions hint that the iPhone launched next year might instead just be a minor update that will increase the speed, perhaps RAM, and perhaps antenna of the device but yet, still have the same design, ie Just like the iPhone 3GS did to the 3G. Google Chrome OS Netbook Launch Date – 7th December?

The Google Chrome OS netbook release date could be as early as the 7th December. Google [GOOG] sent out invitations last night to a press event called a Chrome event. Just prior to that, Engadget had heard rumours that the Chrome OS netbook would be unveiled/launched on the 7th. Playstation Phone Captured Again on Clearer Video

Someone has managed to get hold of a Playstation Phone and give a very brief demo. The good side is that this is the clearest video we have seen of the Playstation Phone, but at the same time, no games are available to show being played on it.

The video shows the phone opened up with the control pad section opened up. The user then taps on a Playstation icon which loads up the PS library. Once in there it says on screen that there are no content items. [Read more…]

RoverPad Android Tablet Announced

Rover Computers, a company based in Russia, has announced a new Android tablet called the RoverPad.

The RoverPad has a 10 inch screen with a resolution of 1024 x 600 pixels. The screen is resistive rather than capacitive. The tablet supports full HD at 1080p. It has a 1GHz ZT180 processor along with 256MB of RAM and 2GB of internal storage. [Read more…]

Guardian Confirm iPad Subscriptions

Apple [AAPL] is believed to be revealing a subscription system that can automatically bill users. The system would allow you to download a magazine for example and then choose to subscribe at a frequency of monthly, yearly etc… Currently the only way you can get magazines is by downloading a free app and then manually making a purchase in the “in-app” payments system which for various reasons, magazines and papers don’t like. Android 2.3 Gingerbread UI Video Accidentally Released

On November 23rd, Google in HK released a video of the Android 2.3 Gingerbread user interface. The video has since been pulled after it started hitting the blogs yesterday, but thankfully another was put up in its place.

The video first shows the Google App on the iPhone but then moves on to Android 2.3 and shows over a minute of video captured professionally. It is in Cantonese so you might have problems understanding it, but looking at how smooth things run on the device, it looks to be quite impressive. [Read more…]
