Retro Alarm Clock

Retro Alarm Clock
This retro alarm clock has no cover which allows you to see all the gears turning inside as time moves forwards. As well as telling the time you will find a bell alarm. It measures 5.5″ x 7″ x 3.25″ in size and runs on 2 C type batteries. It costs $32 and is available from Garnet Hill.

Talking Tire Gauge

Talking Tire Gauge
The Talking Tire Gauge is a device which allows you to check the proper inflation level of your car or bike tires. It can instantly measure pressures up to 99.5 psi. Readouts are given by voice and on a digital display. It’s not a bad idea at all as reading gauges in low light can be a bit of a pain.

It costs $19.98 over at TaylorGifts.

Crazy Cereal Bowl

high-tech-breakfast
Although not too gadgety, I know every reader here enjoys a nice breakfast and this is the reason I post this 😉 Random-Good-Stuff describes it as Breakfast 2.0 and it certainly is different to other cereal bowls you have seen before.

The concept behind this revolutionary breakfast bowl is forehead-slappingly simple. A removable shelf covers 70% of the bowl’s base, holding the cereal above the milk. All you have to do is eat your cereal from the shelf-less section of the bowl where the cereal and milk meet, pushing the cereal in as required. Brilliant!

Galaga turns in to a Quilt

Galaga Quilt
If you remember computer games from donkeys years ago you will probably know of Galaga. It was a great game which ran in 8-bit glory. If you are not that old then you should still remember it as it was often bundled in to Namco games such as Ridge Racer when loading up on the PS1.

Features
– Approximately 60″ square. 60×60-pixel resolution.
– Made from 100% cotton fabric and batting (Z80 processor not included).
– Machine wash cold, tumble dry low, and avoid diving enemies at all costs.
– Pieced and quilted by machine in smoke-free, pet-free, and geek-friendly home.

Recycled Circuit Board Fridge Magnet

Recycled Circuit Board
By making use of an old recycled circuit board this fridge magnet is a perfect present for any geek. It has the circuit board, 2 keyboard keys and a couple of electrical diodes. The magnet is strong enough to not let it slip when attached to a fridge door and is a geeky way of leaving notes for your loved ones.

You can pick one of the circuit board fridge magnets for $8.00 from Etsy.

Worlds Fastest Memory – 6Gbps

worlds_fastest_memory_gddr5
Samsung have been busy creating some fast memory. It is not just fast memory though… it’s the Worlds fastest memory. It runs at 6Gbps and operates at just 1.5V which is less power then the previous versions such as the PS3 (GDDR3). NVIDIA and ATI will be taking delivery’s of this new chip in the first half of next year.

When launched the GDDR5 will have a density of 512Mb (16MBx32) and will be able to shift moving images and data at 24Gbps.

I look forwards to seeing some benchmarks on this thing as it does sound amazing.

Computer Code Briefcase

Computer Code Briefcase
Covered in sleek black vinyl with printed old school green code is the computer code briefcase. Apparently the code can be translated in to “The Lovesong of J. Alfred Prufrock” although how that is done, I have no idea. Around the case there is silver trim to make it in to a sturdy briefcase to carry all your top secret documents around. The computer code briefcase costs $29.99 and is available below.

Datopal SIM Card Multi Reader

OTH-READER-12IN1
The Datopal SIM card multi reader has the ability to read a vast amount of cards. As the name suggests, it can read SIM cards from mobile phones (both GSM and CDMA). Other cards this reader can use are SD\Mini SD\MMC\RS-MMC\T-Flash\Micro SD\MMC Micro\MS and SIM Cards. The device is USB 2.0 and backwards compatible with USB 1.1. The reader is also plug and play allowing you to connect it up to any PC and quickly transfer data from the source card. Datopal have also put in backup capabilities allowing you to quickly backup and restore data from your SIM card.

Overall I would say this is a very handy device to have as backups are key. Basically it sucks to loose your phone or any data. By having this reader you can keep a copy of everything.

Cool Feet for your Laptop

Cool Feet
One of the basic requirements of a PC is that it needs to be kept cool. Laptops occasionally struggle with this part due to the makers cramming more power in to smaller spaces. A number of laptops have vents underneath, which when placed on a desk do not allow a clean airflow to the inside of the laptop. Cool Feet is a new product which is simple in that it gives your laptop more breathing room underneath by raising the back up slightly on two small cool feet.

The benefits of having a cool running laptop is that it can run faster due to the excess heat being released easier. It can also prevent heat damage to furniture and it’s easier on the hands as the angled keyboard is easier to type on.

Cool Feet come in two heights so you can fit them as appropriate for your needs.

Universal Keychain TV Remote Control

Keychain TV Remote Control
This universal TV remote control is small enough to carry around on your keychain. It has just 7 functions but amongst those are the most used on any TV. You will find volume up/down as well as up and down channel changing buttons. You also have the ability to switch the TV on and off. It is powered by 1 CR2032 battery which comes included in the package. An amazing thing about this mini TV remote control is that it only costs $2.59 from DealExtreme.

Star Wars Case Mod

star-wars-mod_5638
I have seen many case mods dotted around the internet which are inspired by many movies and games. The latest and greatest is the StarWars case mod which is modelled around the Millennium falcon of Star Wars.

Now, let’s have a look at the components used for this custom base star war toy. A multi-colored cycling power light, dual hard drive activity headlights, blue EL-string engine bay, 6 exhaust fans for cooling, dual hard drives including one with window, Power, reset, and engine light switches in cockpit.

Impressed I imagine. It does not stop with just the case though. The Modder has also made an X-Wing in to a mouse. This modded case is truly one of the great ones to have been created. More pictures can be found after the jump.

Konaki GPS Navigation

konaki_gps_navigation
The Konaki GPS navigation unit has a 3.5 inch touch screen display which can display 65K colours. The GPS unit is a 20 channel receiver which is integrated in to the casing allowing you to walk around with just the one device. Memory is expandable up to 2Gb as it has a built in SD card slot although the 1GB bundled card should suffice for keeping maps on it as it has the whole of the US map data on that card. The processor which powers the device is a 400MHz Samsung and the device runs Windows CE 4.2 in the background. As well as just being a navigation device you can put media on to your SD card and play back both audio and video as well as use the device as an E-Book reader.
