3D Flat Mouse stows away in your laptop card slot

When travelling you might get frustrated with having to use a touch pad on your laptop for long periods of time. Carrying a mouse around can also be a bit of a pain too making sure you have all the parts needed to make it work such as the receiver, batteries and the mouse its self. The 3D flat mouse is very flat at just 5 mm thick. It is small enough to stow away in your card slot on your laptop. The 3D Flat mouse is an optical mouse as there is no room to fit a ball in the bottom of it. The scroll wheel is touch sensitive allowing you to scroll up and down the screen by sliding your finger.

iphone Dismantled

I knew someone would destroy an iPhone

As soon as most new tech products are launched they are dismantled or destroyed with in hours or even minutes of them being released. Thinksecret decided to take apart their iPhone to reveal exactly what is inside. All 49 pictures of them taking it apart can be found here.

Next on the list is PCWorld who wanted to really test how strong the iPhone is and how resistant to scratching the screen and casing is. The video demonstrates them dropping it, scraping the nice glass screen with keys and then dropping it again on the concrete outside. I am surprised, but it held up well. Check out the video over at PCWorld.

Both of the above have been fairly sensible tests. The next is just plain stupid though. Check out the video after the jump showing how these 2 guys decided to take apart their iPhone.

Ski forever indoors

SnowVolution is a concept which tackles the problem of indoor skiing and the slope basically ending too quick. It is a snow covered rotating planar disc which is up to 300 meters is diameter and set on an incline. 5 - 6 discs are combined which rotate independently of each other up to speeds of 15 meters per second. iPhone

iPhone is coming today! What iPhone Hacks do you want to see?

After several months of waiting, the iPhone will be launching at 6pm tonight in the US. Wired put out the question today about iPhone hacks and what people want to see should they want more from their expensive iPhone. Suggestions such as Skype, MP3 ring tones, Instant Messaging, iPod and Internet without a phone plan and quite a few more have been mentioned. No doubt we will see an ongoing battle between the hackers and Apple like we do with the PSP and homebrew. Hopefully some decent apps can come out for the iPhone to make it in to an even more useful device. The collection of all programmers and Apple could make the good even better.

Morse Mirror

When the phone breaks, use a Morse code mirror

Morse code has been around for years. It is the series of dots and dashes that can be interpreted in to words so that messages could be passed around in the olden days. Who knows Morse code though? You might be familiar with the good old dot dot dot dash dash dash dot dot dot (means SOS). If you are not in the special forces and are not 80 years old or more then you probably dont know much more then that.

The Morse code mirror has all the dots and dashes etched on to the surface of it allowing you to move the mirror around to someone in line of sight and get the signal over to them across the busy beach so that they know they need to grab ice cream on the way back.

iPhone Keyboard

Does the iPhone Keyboard work as well as they want it to?

Many people have criticised the iPhone for not having a real keyboard. Apple decided to opt for a virtual keyboard so that the screen size could be kept as large as possible but yet the device be kept as slim as possible. Touch screens can be hard to work with. If you have ever used a touch screen only device you often get frustrated at trying to enter text and either the wrong letters showing or the whole word being wrong.

Apples iPhone has a number of cool features which make the keyboard easy to use. One of these is included in the predictive text which creates a virtual larger space around a key. For example you could type the word time. When you have the first 3 letters written the only other possibility is the letter E. The space around the E is made larger (not visibly) to allow you more of a chance to hit the correct key. Another feature is the adjustment of letters should you type a word like pizza as ouzza. It detects that the o and the u were probably meant to be p and i and it adjusts accordingly.
