Nokia X3-02 Touch and Type Series 40 Phone

Nokia has announced the Nokia X3-02 handset. It’s quite a strange phone from what we can see in that it has a regular numeric keypad on the lower part of the phone along with a 2.4 inch QVGA touchscreen above that.

The touchscreen isn’t a full replacement for the keypad though and essentially makes it easier to navigate around the device which could actually work well.

As well as having a relatively small touchscreen, the Nokia X3-02 has 3G connectivity along with wireless 802.11n and Bluetooth 2.1 which makes it very connectible. [Read more…]

T-Mobile has now also put up a coming soon page for the N8 and just as the Vodafone page, it mentions no specific release date.

Previously we heard that the release date of the Nokia N8 was August 25 which is about a month away still. Nokia need to get this phone out sooner rather than later though as it seems it was leaked far too early which isn’t always a good thing for a new smartphone. [Read more…]

Nokia Kinetic Concept

We see quite a few cellphone concepts on our travels around the internet. Some are worthy of a mention such as the Nokia Kinetic concept that was designed by Jeremy Innes-Hopkins.

The phone it’s self is unique in that it has a rounded base that houses an electromagnet that can make the phone stand up when an alarm goes off or a call is received. To cancel the alarm you can just tap it back down.

When the phone is automatically standing up, it can also be used to make hands free video calls if needed. [Read more…]

Nokia N900 Hacked to Run Google Android 2.2 FroYo

The Nokia N900 uses a Linux-based system called Maemo. If you like the N900 but not the standard OS then you can now switch to Android 2.2 thanks to a few hackers.

The team working on the N900 managed to successfully load up Android 2.2 on to the Nokia N900 allowing users to make use of the Google [GOOG] OS.

The version running on the N900 does have a few limitations. One of those is that the slide down status bar doesn’t contain any icons. Normally when dragging the status bar down you’ll see a list of details such as messages received, USB mounted and missed calls, but nothing is found in there although you can still drag the menu down.
