LED Plant Pots

Something different here then the usual MP3 players, toys and other crazy stuff we write about.

The LED plant pot… or “Roma-by-Night DecorLight” as it’s more commonly known as, is a remote controlled plant pot that glows a nice ambient colour in the garden to give a little light to the place. It has 20 different programs for how the colours work and is controlled by you with the remote control from the comfort of your garden chair. Impress the neighbours and have the best garden in the street with these 🙂

LED Tagz

Tag.gifLED Tagz I guess are the “cool” way of passing on messages to other folks.

With a few keystrokes you can put a 256 character message on the screen which scrolls your name, phone number, chat up line or what ever you want. You then just throw it around your neck and hope that someone notices 🙂

Sega Genesis Mini 2 Coming Soon

The Sega Genesis, or Mega Drive for us lot in the UK, was a console I grew up with in my teen years. I got mine as a Christmas gift I think in 1991. I got the version with Sonic the Hedgehog rather than the one that launched with Altered Beast.

Moving on 30 years, a new retro console is launching called the Genesis Mini 2. It becomes available on October 27 and is available for pre-order now for North America. More details of it can be found here.

Those of us in Europe will also be able to get hold of the Mega Drive Mini 2, although pre-orders are not open for that until September 2.

The Mini 2 is a little different and comes in a more compact design based on the Genesis Model 2. It also comes with the newer 6-button controller rather than the original 3-button controller. Those of you with the controllers from the original Mini launched in 2019 will also welcome that those controllers are compatible with the Mini 2.

MakerBot Moves in to 3D Scanning with Digitizer Desktop 3D Scanner

MakerBot is becoming well known for making affordable 3D printers. This has made printing a 3D object a fairly easy task. What remains difficult is creating the 3D design that the MakerBot needs to print from.

To solve this problem, MakerBot is now working on the Digitizer Desktop 3D Scanner. This device is used to scan a 3D object, turn it in to a 3D drawing file which can then be sent to the MakerBot printer and be printed. ie… a full replicator service.

iPhone Gets a Case Designed Like Lego

Lego has been popular for many years now. We recently wrote about a Lego inspired mug. Today its time to take a look at the Lego inspired iPhone case.

It is called the BrickCase and is available for both the iPhone 4(S) and iPhone 5. It comes just as the case in 5 different colours which includes black, blue, glow in the dark, green and red. It doesn’t come with the phone (of course), or bricks but is compatible with bricks that are likely in each of your homes.

NanoLight Energy Efficient Lightbulb

Due to the rising costs of electricity, I am always looking for cheaper alternatives to lower the power consumption I use. The NanoLight is one such device that will help with this. I came across the project on Kickstarter today although it was launched almost 2 months ago.

The NanoLight claims to be the worlds most efficient lightbulb. It has been designed with a unique look which serves a purpose of both directing light in all directions as well as acting in place of a heat sink.

Mycestro 3D Mouse

The Mycestro 3D Mouse aims to provide a new way of interacting with a computer. It has been designed to attach to your finger and allows you to work with a mouse pointer on screen without moving your hands away from the keyboard.

The idea came about when the designed was sat on a plane and noticed someone struggling with a laptop and mouse on one of the seat trays. At that point he decided it was time to incorporate the mouse in to a smaller device that attaches to your finger.
