This cool LED tabled named the Lightable lights up objects when placed on to it. It appears that the table is covered in a thin layer of water which LEDs at the sides of the table will illuminate anything put on to it. A crazy, but kind of cool idea. I dont think its very practical though but would look impressive if you were to invite guests around.

Sky IM-R200 with OLED touch keypad

Sky are releasing a dual LCD slider phone named the IM-R200 which has an OLED touch screen keypay. The OLED keypad can be custom configured or use one of the 27 combination displays. The phone has some other nice features too such as a dual camera which allows for making video calls as well as pictbridge technology. Memory can be enhanced through a microSD slot. I like the look of this phone and its use of OLED technology ads a nice twist to the phone. Another picture is available after the jump.
Sony OLED Displays – Just 3mm Thin

OLED displays are gaining more traction and we now see them in some mobile phones, MP3 players and the Optimus keyboard. Sony have managed to create an OLED display that is just 3mm thin. It has a resolution of 1024 x 600 which is not bad at all. As can be seen in the picture above and below, this is a serious piece of kit.
The picture below is of a 9mm version and this boasts a 1000000:1 (1 million to 1) contrast ratio and is capable of full High Definition at 1080p (1920 x 1080). These are great steps forwards in to display technology. Price is unknown and it is unlikely we will see much of these displays for the next little while as it appears that they still costs a lot of money to make. As soon as they are more widely available we will let you know.

Doh – I pulled the wrong plug

You are probably familier with the problem of climbing under your desk when needing to pull out a plug. When you are under the desk you realise that the untouched nice neat cables are no longer neat and tidy, and you have no clue what to unplug. These labels are a simple idea which allow you to mark up each plug as you connect it to the power strip. With these simple, but effective stickers you are now able to unplug your printer rather then pulling out the plug for the PC.
Available for just $6 they are a bargain.

Apple TV – Insides Revealed

TechRestore have taken appart one of the new Apple TVs. As far as I know, this is a first for the Apple TV. Getting inside the device appeared to look fairly simple which once opened, revealed the harddrive, wifi, GPU, Intel Processor and circuit boards. It seems to be put together well.
Higher resolution pics are available over on TechRestore.
LED Based Notebook from Fujitsu

The P7230 is a new LED based notebook launched by Fujitsu. It falls in to the catagory of ultra portable and comes in 2 colours which are black or white. It weighs just 2.9 pounds and had a small 10.6″ LCD display which is in a widescreen format. For the traveller this looks to be an excellent choice with it’s light weight and small size. The unit is powered by an Intel Core Solo U1400 processor allowing longer battery life which is much needed amongst travellers. A memory card slot replaces the floppy drive, and the harddrive is also shock protected to help keep your data more safe. The price is quite high, but this is what can be expected from the ultra portable range of laptops. Prices start at $1699 and go up higher depending on what options you choose. The Fujitsu is well worth looking out for if you are about to look for a new ultra portable laptop.

Nokia N800 – Disassembled

We reported yesterday on the Nokia N800 with the video that someone had made. We now find today that someone else decided to take theirs apart for us all to view what actually goes on in that little device. The video below shows the N800 being taken appart and then put back together. Apparantly after all that destruction there is actually nothing that interesting inside. Everything seems covered over so that chip part numbers and other details cannot be read.

Wiihacks – Wiimote Controlled USB Missile Launcher

Here we go with the latest wiihack. This time you can controll with the wiimote a USB missile launcher. Now dont misunderstand here… this missile launcher fires out nothing but foam rockets. I just didnt want you thinking that you could rule the world with one of these things. Still, it’s a cool idea and well worth looking at if you want to have a good laugh.

Wiimote Controlled Car

We just love the Wii hacks here for the Wiimote control. The latest I came across today was the Wiimote controlled car. It comes from a german modder who made a script for the wiimote enabling movement of the wiimote to control the car. It can control the car in the basic moves which are backwards, forwards, left and right.
The system works with the help of a laptop and a bluetooth dongle. Pair up the wiimote with the laptop and run the script on the laptop. Then the script passes signals on to the remote control via a serial cable which inturn controlls the car.

iPOD OLED Screen
There are currently rumours in the tech world about the next gen iPod using an OLED display. OLED do great when used indoors, but when there is too much light like outside then it’s a different stors. The problem with OLED screens is that the life span is not as good and who know’s if Apple are in favour of that? 😉
