Nikon D700 with $6000 Lens Destroyed in Dragster Race

What you are looking at here is a dead Nikon D700 camera, battery grip and a $6000 Nikon 400mm 2.8 lens that was destroyed in a drag race.

The camera was being remote controlled at the time when a top fuel dragster lost control at the Auto Club Famoso in Bakersfield camera. When losing control, it went up the barrier and smacked in to the camera smashing it in to pieces. [Read more…]

Free iPhone Apps Fill One Third of Top-Grossing Apps Charts

About a year ago, Apple [AAPL] started up the in-app purchase features. What this does is allows developers to create apps for iOS based devices and then let you purchase add-ons whilst in the app. An example could be extra levels of a game or more transactions in a financial package to name a few ideas.

GigaOM decided to have a look at the top 100 grossing apps today to see what was there and after checking through the list, they found that 34 apps out of the 100 were listed as being free and managed to be added to the top 100 grossing apps due to the in-app purchases that they allowed. Samsung Galaxy S Shipments Hit 3 Million in the US

Samsung has announced that the Galaxy S class range of smartphones have reached 3 million shipments in the US. The worldwide total now stands at 7 million which is a fairly impressive number.

Apple AirPrint via Mac/Windows Could Be Delayed

AppleInsider has reported that AirPrint in iOS 4.2 could be delayed indefinitely for those who would connect up to a printer on a Windows or Mac based device. Rather than being able to print to a shared printer as originally planned, it seems that this feature might be pulled out of iOS 4.2 and instead of using shared printers, the system might only work with wireless printers in the HP range.

Sony Ericsson ANZU To Run Android 2.3 When Launched

The XperiaX10 website has received an anonymous tip along with a picture that claims to show the next generation smartphone from Sony Ericsson called the ANZU. The ANZU is believed to be the successor of the Xperia X10 range of smartphones.

The device its self is said to have a 4.3 inch display and be very thin. As well as showing a leaked picture of the device, the ANZU will also run Android 2.3 when it launches rather than an older version. The phone pictured here shows it running Android 2.1 although this is a very early prototype model. [Read more…]

Namco Windows Phone 7 Games Announced

Namco has announced several classic games that will be arriving on the Windows Phone 7 platform. Games include Flight Control, More Brain Exercise, I Love Katamari, PAC-MAN and Puzzle Quest 2.

Apple Buys Wi-Gear

Rumors are indicating that Apple [AAPL] has purchased a small Bluetooth wireless headphone designer in San Francisco called Wi-Gear.

Wi-Gear has made three generations of A2DP stereo headphones which they call iMuffs. These headphones use a Bluetooth 2.0 adapter to communicate with a music source on older devices. For those devices that are compatible, the adapter is not needed. [Read more…]

Color ePaper Announced by E Ink

E Ink Holdings Inc. has has announced E Ink Triton that is essentially a color ePaper display.

Google Search App for Windows Phone 7 Launches

Google [GOOG] has launched a new app for Windows Phone 7 called Google Search. The new app allows you to get quick access to Google search allowing you to hunt through the web, images, local, news and other various options.

Although you could technically just open up the mobile browser to search, using the app helps you get there a little quicker as it can be pinned to Start and accessed with one click. [Read more…]
