MAINGEAR eX-L 15 Gaming Notebook Announced

MAINGEAR announced today a new gaming notebook called the MAINGEAR eX-L 15.

The eX-L 15 notebook has a 15 inch screen that has a HD resolution. The graphics card is an ATI Radeon HD 5870 that can handle resolutions up to 1920 x 1080 pixels. The screen is backlit by LED.

The eX-L15 comes in a variety of options which includes quad-core processors along with Intel Core i5 and i7 CPU’s.

Outputs include DVI, HDMI as well as S/PDIF audio out. Connectivity for other devices includes eSATA, Firewire, 4x USB 2.0 ports and a webcam. [Read more…]

FarmVille Could land on iPad, iPhone and Android Devices

FarmVille is a popular game on Facebook. You probably have seen a number of friends updates indicating they need help with chickens or want a new cow etc…

We are now hearing that FarmVille will be heading to the smartphone with the iPhone, iPad and Android based devices probably being capable of playing the game. Also, a text messaging version of the game is also expected to be launched.

The company behind Farmville are called Zynga who have commented that plans are being worked on to bring the game to mobile platforms, but no additional information could be provided. [Read more…]

HTC want you to name their New Phone

HTC are looking for your input and want you to name their next phone. There are four options currently available and HTC will use one of the names to call their next phone. These are the HTC Jovi, HTC Zeal, HTC Wildfire or HTC Festi.

The voting page can be found over on Facebook here and the text on the page indicates that a new phone is in the works.

The guys and gals in the lab are working on something new and we want you involved in the process. We are looking for a name that is playful and full of youth. If you were to choose one of the following names for a new phone, what would it be?

ASUS Eee PC 1018P with USB 3.0 Measures 18mm thick

The ASUS Eee PC 1018P was first reported back towards the end of February along with two other models, the 1015p and 1016p. Since then we haven’t heard much until now where some, what are believed to be exclusive, pictures have been captured.

The pictures show off the ASUS 1018p model. This particular model will run either Intel N455 or N475 processors, have Bluetooth connectivity and USB 3.0 connectivity too along with 10 hours of battery life. Recently, ASUS made the decision to embrace the USB 3.0 standard by including the port on all products. The 1018p is amongst the first to receive the USB 3.0 port as standard. The USB 3.0 ports can be seen on the right side of the netbook (pictured below) and are in the usual bright blue colour that indicates the USB 3.0 connectivity. [Read more…]

Apple MacBook Pro Discounts on Older Models

Last week the Apple MacBook Pro line of computers were updated to get faster processors, better battery life and general improvements around.

As can be expected, there’s some older stock out there that companies are now selling off at a cheaper price. Amazon has two 13.3 inch, 15 inch and 17 inch MacBook Pro models on discount at the moment and it seems like those prices will stay dropped until all stock is gone of the older MacBook Pro range. Google Chrome OS Netbooks to Cost $300 – $400

Details of the Google Chrome OS netbook have been revealed by the CEO of Google [GOOG] Eric Schmidt. The price we should expect to pay for netbooks running the Chrome OS will be in the 300 – 400 dollar price range with those prices being led by the proce of processors, glass and other components needed to make it run.

The price of the netbooks are all of what we just mentioned as there is no cost to using the Chrome OS other than the technology required to run it. Google make their revenues by other means rather than selling software licences. Apple iPad 3G to be delivered April 30

Apple [AAPL] today announced officially that the iPad 3G models will be shipping next week and will be delivered to customers on Friday April 30. For those who want to collect an iPad 3G, they will go on sale at 5pm the same day at Apple retail stores. [Read more…]

Henge Dock for MacBook Pro

The Henge Dock is designed to hold a MacBook or MacBook Pro and allow it to be connected up to an external monitor.

The dock has all cables attached to it so that when docking the device it automatically connects up to your external screen.

Henge Dock has been made compatible with several MacBook Pro models which includes a 13 inch, 15 inch and 17 inch unibody varients as well as the regular MacBook. Dr Who Sonic Screwdriver – 11th Doctor

If you follow Dr Who then you will have noticed he got both a new TARDIS and a new Sonic screwdriver.

ThinkGeek managed to get their hands on a some for sale. The item is described as being a collectors item and also as being “an exact replica of the Gallifreyan multipurpose tool used by The Doctor himself”.

The new model is larger than the previous models and has a bright green light on the top along with a spring loaded extension.

While the screwdriver is closed, just press the button on the side to activate the LED and sound effects. Flip open the cap on the end to reveal an additional button that will activate the light and sound effects when the screwdriver is extended and open. We’re not sure if you’ll be able to save the world, but at least you’ll look hip trying.

Leica V-LUX 20 Compact Camera gets HD and Geo-Tagging

The Leica V-LUX 20 has been officially announced. Features included in the camera include a 12.1 megapixel sensor, 12 times zoom and GPS tagging. The camera is also able to capture video in a HD resolution of 720p.

The 12x zoom is optical that is provided by the 4.1-49.2mm f/3.3-4.9 lens. 4x optical zoom is also available on the camera.

The V-LUX 20 is Leica’s first camera that uses GPS tagging and allows for GPS co-ordinates to be captured and stored in the image EXIF data file allowing you to map where pictures were taken. As well as capturing and saving the GPS coordinates the camera also stores the local time that the images were captured. [Read more…]

Google Chrome OS to get Mulititouch with Synaptics Gesture Suite

Google Chrome OS as well as other Linux builds such as Ubuntu will now be able to use multitouch gestures on their touchpads.

This functionality comes thanks to the Gesture Suite update that now allows several new gestures including pinch to zoom, two finger twist and pivot rotate to name a few.

[Synaptics]Gesture Suite works with Ubuntu, Chrome, Fedora, SuSE, Xandros, Millos Linpus, and RedFlag, and can be used with a variety of touchpad sizes, ranging from the smallest netbooks to larger notebook PCs. Gesture Suite is free… well, it will be: it’ll be bundled for free with notebooks that have a Synaptics TouchPad or ClickPad.

LG Optimus GT540

The last time we heard about the LG GT540 was back at CES in January. Back then the launch date of the phone was said to be April this year and then I don’t ever remember hearing of the phone since then.

Today the LG Blog in France gave an update to the handset and revealed it will be known as the LG Optimus when launched. The Optimus runs the Google [GOOG] Android 1.6 (donut) operating system.

Other specifications include 5 keys on the front of the device with 3 being physical and 2 being touch keys. The display on the LG Optimus measures 3 inches and has a resolution of 320 x 480 pixels. The processor running inside is a Qualcomm Qualcomm MSM7227 that runs at 600MHz. [Read more…]
