Verson 6 of the Google Chrome browser has landed. The launch of Google Chrome 6 comes two years after the original launched.
Now, on its second birthday, Google (Google) has released a stable build of Chrome version 6. Heralding itself as “The Modern Browser,” Chrome (Chrome) 6 does indeed boast a number of improvements, but as with previous updates, the focus remains on speed and simplicity.
The iPhone 4 in Germany could be moving to more networks after the holiday season. WSJ is reporting that T-Mobile in Germany is about to lose it’s iPhone 4 exclusivity agreement towards the end of this year.
This indicates that both Vodafone and O2 could be getting an iPhone 4 as early as next year. [Read more…]
It seems that Push notifications are coming to the official iPhone Twitter application. The image above shows the app being tested at Twitter internally where an option to enable notifications is presented on screen.
For those users (developers) who are running iOS 4.1, the option is already available from what we understand. When iOS 4.1 is released next week, it should allow those who run the Twitter app to enable push notifications once the OS is updated. [Read more…]
When iTunes 10 with Ping was demonstrated at the Apple [AAPL] special event a few days ago Facebook integration was included. Steve Jobs could be seen on stage demonstrating it.
However, it has now disappeared. All Things D has reported that the reason for it missing is that Facebook has blocked Apple from using the API that was used to interact with Facebook. [Read more…]
Skype has released a new Beta update numbered version 5.0. The new Skype 5.0 Beta download (for Windows), allows users make group video calls with up to 10 people.
As well as allowing for more people on a group video call, the update also gets a new fresh look in Skype’s own words. Also stability has been increased as well as increased quality when making video calls to a group.
To make a group video call, each users on the call needs to be running the latest Skype Beta (available for download here). Right now the service is free although the blog post announcement hints at a possible charge in the future.
We’ve made improvements to call quality when making group video calls, as well as fixed a number of bugs affecting stability, so your calling experience should be smoother than before. This version also includes automatic call recovery, which should help automatically reconnect Skype calls that are interrupted due to network problems. We’ve also made a number of other housekeeping fixes since the first beta – but please bear in mind that this is still a beta version, and so there may be the odd bug remaining.
The Toshiba Folio 100 was on display at IFA today. The Folio 100 is an Android based tablet that will be launching soon.
Technical specs reveal it has a 10.1 inch screen with a resolution of 1024 x 600 pixels. The touchscreen uses capacitive touch and also supports multitouch.
Inside is an NVIDIA Tegra 2 dual core chipset. A 1.3 megapixel camera can be found inside and for storage it has 16GB. The version of Android running on the Toshiba Tablet is Android 2.1. [Read more…]
Gizmodo managed to spend some time with the Samsung Galaxy Tab earlier today. The Galaxy Tab is an Android tablet that will be launching soon. It runs TouchWiz, has a 7 inch screen and has 3G/Wireless connectivity built in.
It’s well made, and doesn’t seem as plasticky as the Galaxy S range of phones—or indeed, most Samsung phones. Just like with the iPad, the bezel around the display is possibly too large for its own good, but the touch-sensitive buttons (menu, home, back and search) almost don’t have a purpose with that large 7-inch display.
Creative has launched a new Wireless Rock Speaker called the Sound Blaster Wireless Rock Outdoor Speaker. It is designed to be used outside in a garden and can have music wirelessly sent to it from a computer or other compatible device.
The speaker works on 2.4GHz technology and has a range of up to 100 feet from the source of the wireless signal that transmits the music. [Read more…]
Students of the Cedar School in Scotland have been given iPads to use for study. In total, 105 iPad units have been handed out, all of which connect to the school run wireless network which allows students to receive course work as well as perform various research on subjects being taught.
This iPad-centric approach to education makes sure students are fed a daily quota of homework and various activities, not to mention lessons in English, math, languages and history.

Skyfire is a browser that is capable of playing flash content on the iPhone. The way it works is that Skyfire has a cloud server which recognises content on a page is flash. The server then converts the flash to HTML 5 content on the fly (when the user wants to play flash content). The content is then streamed down to the user to view when needed.
When converting the content from Flash to HTML 5, the system is capable of compressing the file size making the content as small as 25% of the original size. [Read more…]
An insider at Verizon [VZ] has informed Engadget that the Samsung Fascinate is being prepped for launch and that it will be arriving soon.
